Anyone know someone that can repair a clock?

In the move down here, our antique clock was damaged. We are looking for some one to repair it. Can you recommend someone in the villages we can call?

Few and far between, being a lost art.

Not sure if he is still working on clocks, but we had one fixed about 2 years ago by a Villager named Joe Gibbs. 352-750-0821

Don't recall his name but I had a gentleman fix my grandfather clock. Very reasonable and honest. His number is 352-391-2111

I strongly suggest that anyone looking for repairs to a grandfather clock look outside The Villages!!! I asked a Villager who holds himself out as a grandfather clock repairman to come to my home to see if he could get my grandfather clock running. When I first asked him about the clock he immediately said, "you need new works" without even looking at the clock or asking anything about it. I still had him come to the house to look at the clock. He didn't even know how to open the case to see the clock works. I had to open the case for him. He glanced very briefly at the clock works and immediately said, "you need new works" and "this service call is $90." I explained to him that although the clock was 50 years old it had always been in climate-controlled storage and never operated so it seems unlikely that the existing clock works are worn out and in need of replacement. I fear that his advertised grandfather clock repair skills might be limited to simply installing new clock works rather than actually being able to repair existing clock works. I suggest that you find someone outside The Villages who will at least look at the grandfather clock before determining that its clock works are worn out and need to be replaced.

If you don't mind traveling, H&E Clocks in Port Orange does good work on antique clocks.

There may be more than this person repairing clocks in TV, why paint a broad brush on everyone?

I get my clock cleaned most every time I play golf here.

(sorry for the diversion from your question)

ColdNoMore 01-24-2019 06:01 PM

Why bother even repairing it?

At least it's absolutely correct twice a day, which is a lot more frequent... than a lot of people I know. :1rotfl:
