"Ballpark Cost" to epoxy a 2-Car garage?

Any recent data points on cost of doing this? It's about 420sq ft.

I'm pretty handy and I could probably do a terribly sloppy and messy amateur job myself but I know I would regret trying since dealing with anything having to do with rollers or brushes and proper preparation is not what I consider fun. Was considering DIY PVC garage tiles but epoxy sounds interesting. Yes, I am aware that I should include "anti-slip" in the coating.

Sorry I don't recall the cost of doing our two car garage 6 years ago, but I too decided to have it done professionally...given that here's a pic of my last DIY painting project. :D

Garage Floor Epoxy Paint & Coating Kits | ArmorGarage
Check this site out headed mine for about $550

Some neighbors had this done, and I think the cost was about $2 per square foot.

By the way, I did my own garage floor, used a product that I was very happy with UNTIL, I spilled some gas on the floor, it does not stand up to gasoline.....wish I had done epoxy......

TSK TSK CNM, in the corner as usual. LOL

This cost is from June, 2014 when we had our garage floor done.
Omar's Painting. 352-434-7072
We have an Iris model with 2-car garage and golf cart garage. It's a 3-step process - acid wash (etching), apply paint and sprinkles,
top coat sealer
I think you will find this improvement to your home to be one of your better investments. It really makes a difference in the look of your garage and helps keep your house clean. I can recommend Omar's Painting.
Cost at that time was $1,000.

Sometimes, my being relegated to the corner was due to being...a bad, bad boy. :D

Sometimes, finding myself in a corner was simply from...being a dunce.

My stretched 3 car was $1500, three day process, acid wash, epoxy & flakes, top coat sealer. This was last month.

Was the problem the product you used or would gasoline do that regardless ?

ckcapaul 12-15-2018 08:42 PM

Gasoline will not hurt epoxy

That would probably be a $600+ fiasco for me. I'd rather pay a pro to do it so HE would be responsible. I tend to get VERY sloppy when it comes to anything paint brush or roller related. :)

Since it takes a couple/few days what do they do with all the "stuff" from your garage when they do the epoxy flooring (or is that the homeowners problem)?

DangeloInspections 12-15-2018 10:26 PM

Many companies do this...a few well, and some horribly. I do enough inspections that I can tell as soon as I walk into the garage who did the epoxy job.

Like Inspections, This is NOT the project you want to skimp on or hire the cheapest guy. You only get ONE SHOT to get this right. If you hire a crappy guy who does a poor job, every time you walk out there you will be reminded of your foolishness. You do not want hot tire pick up, etc. Cry once when you buy it, then be happy forever.

Last time I heard, if you do not have too much, Tim can bring a trailer to put stuff in, or put it in your Lanai, or your snowbird neighbor's garage....

Tim Miller always does a great job and many folks are very happy with his companies work. Kling Painting also does a nice job. There may be a few others who also do good work, but those two companies are most likely the only guys I would consider.

Frank
