Looking for pot roast recipes

I am much better at eating than cooking. BUT I am in charge of cooking for Mom and Dad. I bought a slow cooker. Now I need some good, easy recipes. Thank you for any help.

I think a slow cooker or crock pot is good for cooking a large piece of meat because it makes it more tender. But, other than that, is there any real difference in using the slow cooker vs cooking in a large pot on the stove? Just curious.

I like the easy onion soup recipe but I use cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup. Put roast in cooker, top with can of soup ,onion soup mix and one half soup can of water. Add a small bag of baby carrots and one medium potatoe per person cut in large cubes. Cook 4 hrs at high or 8-10 hrs on low. Doesn't get any easier and great taste!

Most important is buy premium chuck roast. First brown the roast on all sides using a little olive or vegetable oil. Put in crock pot add beef broth and cut up onion. Cook on low about 5-6 hours. Add carrots about 1 hour before serving. (I use the little fresh carrots) Depending on how big you cut the peeled potatoes will determine how long to cook them. My family likes mashed potatoes so I do not add them to crock pot.

You can then make gravy from the broth.

I don't know what the chuck roast was we had for Christmas, but we had good reviews and second trips for refills.

It cost twenty bucks. Bought it at Publix. Looked big enough for five people. I threw it in my beloved Dutch Oven and sprinkled dry Lipton Onion Soup mix on top and added about a cup of water. Put the lid on, put in in the oven at 250 degrees at eleven in the morning and we ate it at five in the afternoon. Fork tender.

I can't tell you whether it was prime or not. It was very good.

But really, he wants a slow-cooker recipe, not an opinion on whether or not to use one.

Looked at the recipe. What kind of liner for the crock pot works?

I don't know, Tal. I've never used a liner.
