Rain water run off
Where does the rain water go after it runs into the drainage system in the streets? Does it drain into the retention ponds?
|
My understanding is that the water drains into the lakes and retention ponds where it is then used for irrigation. Several golf courses were closed for up to 5 days last week because the heavy rains had raised the water levels and covered up some cart bridges. Irrigation systems were running nonstop to lower the water levels.

It will startle you when you're out and about, driving in the pouring rain, yet seeing public irrigation systems running at full tilt.
"To prevent overflow of the retention ponds" is the usual answer when officials are asked! So, the basic answer to coffeebean's query is, Yes. SWR :beer3: |
Thanks for the information.

Actually, water management in TV is a "national" model for water conservation. The runoff is collected in the retention ponds and the sprinkler systems are used to initially manage levels. After that, the water can be moved all over TV to manage it. It's pretty cool.....actually.
