Golf Cart at Sam's Club

This afternoon I saw a golf cart in the middle of a parking spot at Sam's Club. It was not street legal. Is there any way someone could have driven it there legally?

Yep, come in from the old section, no problem

Nope! At Shay Gate sign says "no carts beyond this point" and Griffin Ave. is a 35 mph street.

:ohdear: Why would you give incorrect info. to people? If you don't know..... STOP typing!

OP asked "Is there any way someone could have driven it there legally?"

Or from homes near Sams. I have noticed them couple of times coming from the road behind Sams

No, a golf cart cannot legally travel from the Historic Side to Sam's or Home Depot. This is because the speed limit on Griffin Ave. is 35 MPH and Griffin separates the Historic Side from the businesses.

Golf carts cannot legally travel on or cross a road with a speed limit 35 MPH or higher.

What about if they are applying for asylum? (that's a joke).

 What if it's one of the NUTS telling people (incorrectly) how to get out of the Asylum?

According to the Lady Lake Police Chief

Golf carts may not cross over or drive on the following roadways:

Highway 27/441, CR 466, Griffin Avenue, Rolling Acres Road, or any other road with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or higher.

I don't see how one can get to Sams from TV without violating the ordinance.

Local exceptions include
El Camino Real at the traffic light between Enrique Drive and Botello Avenue, and Rainey Trail between Lynnhaven Lane and Miona Shores Drive..and there is a legal crossing on 441, but should not be of interest to Villagers as it connects Spruce Creek South with WalMart.

But since there is no enforcement, who cares.

How do you know this?

MorTech 01-19-2019 05:52 AM

I suppose you could get off your cart at Jeffrey and push it across Griffin :)

How did you determine that it is not street legal?

A LP on the back of cart

Buckeyephan 01-19-2019 07:30 AM

Asianthree is correct. No license plate. in the past, I have also seen carts crossing 441 at the light by Sam's Club. Carts also drive up Rolling Acres from Recreation Plantation but those were street legal. Guess I value my life too much to take those risks.
