Printer ink cartridges...OEM or re-manufacture?
 

What is the experience of buying re-manufactured instead of HP brand cartridges.

There is a significant difference in the price of one vs the other.

I am looking for HP 63 XL....new cost/Amazon $37.95.
Various re-manufacturers range from $13 to $18.

Your experience and comments please.

No experience with ink jet but I use generic for HP laser printer with no problems.

HP...Generic...No Problems...Amazon.

I always use remanufactured and the only minor issue is that the printer can't always tell how much ink is left in the cartridge so you may get "replace cartridge now" messages straight away which, though annoying, can be safely ignored.

I am trying remanufactured for the first time. I have a Canon. So far it is fine. I don’t replace them until they stop working

I only use OEM.. stopped using HP and Brother printers years ago .. NEVER have problems with my printers .. used remans / private labels years ago and paid the price with mechanical failures. I currently have a Canon MFP, Samsung B+W laser and a high speed office quality Xerox Phaser.

I looked at the prices on Amazon, and found that the only substantial cost savings is if I buy the XL cartridges, which are supposed to last longer. So, I guess I would need to count the pages I get from an XL vs regular cartridge. Has anyone ever done that? I wouldn't notice the difference because I scan almost everything, which eliminates the need for most paper and ink. Also, I like it when HP thanks me for using their ink cartridges. I never buy a printer that uses 4 cartridges instead of 2. Seems like a waste of ink for no good reason. Another problem is that no matter what cartridge you buy, they never tell you how much ink is in the cartridge, so there is really no way to compare unless you actually keep track of which cartridge is cheaper to use over time.

ink cartridges, another ripoff, like TP and PT paper products. No way of knowing if the cartridges are full of partial, and come on, look at what your getting for the money, a little plastic box with ink in it, what a joke.

I agree. They sell XL cartridges for twice the price of regular cartridges, and both are exactly the same size. But, they don't tell you how much ink is in them. I can't think of another product that could be sold that way.
