Rotisserie Baseball

I have been commissioner and co-commissioner in a rotisserie (Fantasy league) baseball league for ten years while in NY. I am thinking of starting one here in The Villages. I am sending this post to see if enough people have any interest. The only long period of time needed is draft day which back in NY was an all day event when ten teams were involved. Everything from there is controlled by a web site I would chose. With the website it will be impossible to cheat.
For the first year we would keep cost at a minimum just in case we have any disasters. In the past in the serious leagues in NY. The cost was $150 but we can cut it lower to maybe $100.
Transactions fees will be at a minimum ($1, $2 , TBD) until we know there will be no disasters.
The winner would get 50% of the prizes money, 2nd place 30% and third 20%.
If any controversy (there always is something) i will have a neutral party and former commissioner in Texas make a final decision . If anyone interested let me know.
Thanks. Play ball

Hey Tom I played Strat-O-Matic baseball while living in RI. The league is still going on, now for 40 years! I miss it. What game are you planning? I loved to play Strat with the cards, but looks like you have some kind of computer game (Strat has the computer game).

I'd like to hear more details, but I am interested.

Tom,

Experienced fantasy football player but never played fantasy baseball. Biggest question I have is how demanding is the day to day stuff. Football played only once a week but baseball played pretty much daily. Does this mean I would need to log in every day?

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jay. Rotisserie Baseball is not Strat o matic but I am also a Stearo matic nut.
Geen doing SOM since my early 20’s
I tried a few years ago to start a league. Not much interest

The new SOM is great as it keeps stats and you actually see the plays made
on the field. Problem is if we have a league everyone would have to invest
In the softward. And we would need multipal computers/ laptops.

The cheap Village people are not interested
From what I understand there is an on line version where games can
be played without being face to face. It would help the snowbirds still being
able to play. I was a commissioner is SOM for years and It was a wonderful
Way to enjoy the game. I myself prefer to play older seasons like 1956, 1961,
Etc. but I would play any era if we could ger enough to get a league
going. If interested let me know and you and I could meet somewhere
to bounce it around. I live in Buttonwood

You only need to make moves by midnight Sunday. And once a month look at the ftree agent and waiver wire fotr players who were released by rotisserie teams. The onlt time consuming is the draft whick will take 6-8 hours for a ten team league

Stratomatic would be cool.

Anybody ever play APBA Baseball? Spent many hours playing that game longer ago than I care to admit. :)

And so I'm not accused of an off-topic post...I might be interested in the op's proposal. :)

Tom I would love to play SOM again. We could play the cards version (no computer). That's how I always played. It was fun going to someone's house and play the game. The guys I played with became friends. Maybe we could form a club and even have a set day and time to play at a rec center. With a club and the cards there would be no software costs. I still have the cards game.

Let me know if you would like to discuss further. Steve
