Air Conditioner noise
Hello Everyone. This is my first post!
As my name says I'm almost retired and about ready to move to the villages. But, we have some concerns before we make the move. We want a very quiet home. We are concerned about the noise from the air conditioners, both ours and our neighbors. The A/C unit is placed close to the master bedroom in the Sanibel. Has anyone had a problem with the noise? We are looking to build a house because we can not find a preowned house that we like plus it is less expensive to build. We really appreciate any advice. Scotty |
We don't but our guests do. Get a white noise machine. That should solve the problem.

Air Noise
Every home I've been in you don't hear the air conditioner when your inside the home. It might depend on if it's stick or stucco built, but I think they do a pretty good job in putting the unit in a good spot. If your on your lanie(sp) that's different. Sometimes you can hear them or your neighbors. I'd be a lot more concerned as to where your home is located, such as by a busy street or on a golf course. Sounds seem to travel a long way here on the south side off of Bailey trail, not a lot of big trees to help block the sound I guess.... And as for homes that back up to one another... OMG you can hear your neighbors as if they were sitting right next to you. All my friends that have homes like these want to move. They end up building as much of a tree fence to help. Having a wall as a fence in the back works very well for privacy and noise reduction. Hope this helps...

I started a thread on this subject several months ago. To recap, we bought a spec Iris and had problems with noise from the neigbor's heat pump which is on the bedroom side of our house. The company that installed the neighbor's heat pump put rubber isolators under the heat pump and that helped but did not completely eliminate the problem. We had the builder and the manager of The Villages warranty department come and listen to the noise level and both said that what we heard was what should be expected with the houses built as close as they are.
