Stinky Mushroom and Snails
 

Stinky, tall mushroom and ravenous snails. We've called our lawn a nd garden people, They say they have no sprays or other solutions. Has a (Even tried coffee and coffee grinds to get rid of the snails.) Any solutions?'

Suggestions
 

A traditional suggestion is shallow pan of beer. Based on experience, sugar water with some yeast works just as well.

For plants such as Hosta which they love, a ring of cyanne pepper works just fine-they don't like hot food.

For snails I've used Ortho Bug-getta. Worked great. Stopped an infestation on my lime tree.

Not sure about mushrooms - but for the snails, simply continually yell out S-CAR-GO!!!

Mushrooms grow where it is especially damp, or stays damp. Try to improve drainage at that spot? And remove any pile up of dead leaves or other matter.

Thank you. We've tried beer in a shallow dish and another home remedy. But as I understand it, down in the soil are developing baby snails. Which is why I was hoping for a spray for the soil.

You may just end up with snails that are wide awake & drunk...

Yeast and sugar water works fine. If, they want imported beer do post your address so I can tell them you offer finer fare.

The OP says black snakes like escargot. We have at least one black snake. My snakes have no class as stated no beer here.

I doubt they are mushroom? Probably toad stool? If you put down compost the toad stools probably came in it and most like the soil too moist?

if you have wood mulch that's your problem, get rid of the wood mulch.

If you are in one of the brand new Villages, this could be your problem. I am assuming the Fungi is out on the lawn, if so it is probably coming from "stuff" left on the soil before the turf was laid. If your fungi are in a sort of straight line rather than spread out it could be rotting wood under the grass and you probably have to wait for it to rot down. The fungi I am talking about has very white tops which turn up on the outer edges, rather than curling under like an edible mushroom. Just use rubber gloves to remove the fungi off the lawn every day, leave them in a plastic bag outside the house until yard waste day.

Don't Overwater with Mulch!
 

Noooooooooo . . . Do NOT get rid of the mulch!

Mulch is a far better than stones and/or rock which bake your plants and shrubs in the sun because they hold the heat.

Over time, mulch disintegrates and adds nutrients to the soil and you will not have to water as frequently or as much.
