Noisy restaurants

Is there any restaurant that is not noisy? When I go out for dinner or lunch, I'd like to have a conversation with the person I am with. But with the acoustics in country clubs and other restaurants, it is hard to do so.

You've not been paying attention. The proper way to have a conversation in a restaurant is to take out your cell phone and text message the person sitting next to or across from you. Once you master this skill you will no longer be held hostage to environmental noise.

Turners in Leesburg. They will only seat tables of four (two tables for six), and it's very quiet.

Noisy Restaurants is a sign of:
Fun
Happiness
Enjoyment

Quiet dining would be found in a nursing home. Complaints about The Villages tend to contain I or Me. Most of the complaints about The Villages are the very reasons We chose this wonderful place as our final home.

I second Turner's in Leesburg. Really, really good food and you can have an actual conversation!

The larger the group, the louder they have to talk to be heard at the far end of their table. The more booze they drink, the louder they talk because booze must affect their hearing.

I think it's part of living near or in The Villages. Large groups and old people hard of hearing. Get used to it.

Sorry, my granddaughter is in town. Better luck next.

I was surprised at the noise level at the new Legacy. Was told that sound insulation is on it's way. The steak was delicious and well presented but too noisy for a steakhouse feel. So back to Mark's for the real deal. Price is comparable.

There's a few different types of noise though. Some would warrant complaints. Some, maybe not.

Fun/happiness/enjoyment = nothing to complain about, in a restaurant that celebrates celebrations. In an intimate romantic setting, that party of 10 celebrating the hole in one on a par 5, maybe a bit over the top in that setting.

Bad accoustics: if you can hear the person 5 tables away talking about his gall bladder surgery to his neighbor over a cup of coffee, while you're trying to enjoy your scungili, then it's probably bad accoustics. Or, it might be...

Myopia and inattention/inability to care about one's surroudings: a person who knows they are loud, because people have told her she's loud, but she doesn't care and will raise her voice anywhere, anytime, to say anything at all, and to hell with what anyone else thinks or what anyone else is trying to do. The "cell phone talker" falls into this category, but they are only one of many.
