Any damage to your neighborhood from last night's storm?

Apparently something around here got struck, there was the LOUDEST boom I've heard in a long time. The cable went out, no internet, no tv, no phone (I have Comcast for phone). Then this morning I discovered a tripped GFI in the garage, a dead surge suppressor in the office (it was at the end of its life span anyway) and those with Century Link in our neighborhood, no phone service. Seems either there was a strike at a Century Link box at a house a few doors over or a huge surge that damaged a couple of their boxes. Two work trucks are still in the neighborhood, they've been here since 10 this morning.

I was sitting in the living room watching the LSL cam on my computer until that lightning event. Interesting, outside my house would be illuminated by the lightning and the town square, on the cam, would be all lit up, too... :)

Last evening I was very happy to have a lightning protection system on my house. Dam, there's some pretty intense electrical storms around here.

LOL....I understand totally!

My Mom in law lives a couple of houses over and she said that she wanted to hop in her car, head to our house and hop into bed with hubby and me. She was frightened and generally lightning doesn't bother her.

It was quite a night, that's for sure. Glad I had my weather radio...which went off and off and off yesterday and very early this morning!

My Dish TV went out for a little while around 9:15 p.m. but then came back. I turned off the computer when the lightning started.

Checked my clients' homes this am (from Springdale to Hemingway) -- no damage to anyone.

As to the Dish, mine goes out every time the wind blows hard, let alone when it rains; so I just chalk it up to the same ole, same ole. (Three guesses who doesn't like the Dish but is stuck, anyway.)

Redwitch..sounds like your dish needs peaking. Yes, it will go out in heavy rain but a little wind should not affect it that much. If one of your LNBs is going bad that would cause signal degradation as well. Like batteries, both need to be equal and both will work only as well as the poorest one. Go outside and tweak that antenna! It's not rocket science and most people can do it easily. If you need new LNB's, check out the internet. You can install new ones. Easy peasy.

What's an LNB

we plan to get DISH this fall when we move down - it's a necessity for a Buckeye to get the Big Ten Network and Sportstime Ohio and Fox Sports Ohio (I can understand why non-Buckeyes think we're obnoxious - we can't help it)

Wondering where you have been....

samhass, good to hear from you.....:MOJE_whot:

Let me guess; at one time you owned a BUD. I am an old CBander myself.
