Use of green space for party
 

Moving to a brand new neighborhood that features a lovely green space with trees nestled between houses... Question: Can residents use that area for block-parties? Restrictions?

I would go to the Sumter County property appraiser's website (sumterpa.com) and see who actually owns the property in question.

Unless this is designated as a park (tables, trash containers, possibly a pavilion) I would highly doubt that you can use the area, you could try Villages recreation dept 352-674-1800, villages district propert management 352-753-4022, and villages district customer service, 352-753-4508.

The neighbors pay a premium when selecting their lots that have a "greenspace" and did not have private parties in mind when doing so. If it happens on "our greenspace", a complaint will be made immediately. Besides, the snakes do not like to be disturbed either, and our alligator would be unhappy too. Perhaps a public park would be a better choice here.

Greenspaces don't provide restrooms. I don't know about north of 44 but Fenney, DeSoto, and McClure all have pavilions at the neighborhood rec. centers that you can use. Some owners have driveway/garage parties.

Let me know where “your” green space is located so I can schedule a golf cart meet and great there. The green spaces are paid for and maintained by all of us. You may have paid more for your lot for the privilege of living next to a green spaces, but it is not yours.

The OP’s question reminds me of the unofficial “dog park” along Morse Blvd, just south of Hillsborough. When it comes down to it, the property is for everyone to use.

In thinking about this, I would suggest asking the neighbors that live next to the green space after you move in and get acquainted . You sure don't want to start a new life p___ing off the neighbors as you'll not have much fun thereafter.

You must have missed the fact that I used quotes around the phase "our greenspace" or chose to ignore that. The one I referred to is totally surrounded by privately owned property and/or fenced. I assure you that a golf cart parade across private property is not welcome and will not be tolerated. The "unofficial dog park" on Morse is not fenced so assumptions are made about it without sanction.

You obviously don't understand ownership here in TV. Open spaces are mostly owned by the district. That means "private property".

Remember the controversy regarding the green space along Morse Blvd. that dog owners and home owners had the “big battle” a few months ago? :boxing2:
