AAC Investigating Acquiring Hacienda Hills Country Club ?

Towards the end of an article in the Daily Sun on page A12 entitled "AAC Votes to Eliminate Cap On Amenity Fees" ( a whole other point of discussion) there is a paragraph or two which states the AAC has authorized District staff to move forward with tentative discussions with The Villages on the possible acquisition of Hacienda Hills Country Club. The Villages has expressed the desire to sell the district the part of the facility that DOES NOT include the championship golf course, the golf cart rental business or the pro shop.

Why would the AAC want to buy that ? I don't think the AAC wants to be a landlord or in the restaurant business. If it does happen, would that mean the pool and tennis courts would become open to all and not just priority members ? What would they do with the existing restaurant and bar (including the outside bar)?

I remember the last time this happened and the AAC bought Santiago and then the AAC had to tear it down because the building needed so much work. When rebuilt the restaurant there was gone and it was just a rec center.

I would much rather see this place stay the same but with a new owner running the food operations than burdening the residents with what I fear might be extensive work that needs to be done at that facility.

Any ideas ?

That does sound strange...that they would want to take it over.

As for the restaurant, as far as I'm concerned they can raze the whole thing...and put in a small Putt & Play.
:D

There is a short stretch of multi-modal path that goes across the golf course between Augustine Drive and the multi-modal path along Morse Boulevard. The AAC (or the CDD) has been unable to upgrade this short stretch of uneven concrete path because it belongs to the golf course.

Perhaps they are trying to acquire that short stretch of path.

I want to see a country club remain as Hacienda Hills, but under new restaurant ownership, not the AAC.

We do not have a decent cc North of 466. Lopez is a work in progress, but Glenview and Hacienda are not doing so well. They both have the same owner, owner of Worlds of Beer. I think if he would sell to someone like the owners of Bell Glade, Evans Prairie, Bonifay, and Orange Blossom Hills, well, it would be a great improvement, IMHO.

No, the developer owns TDS.

And maybe that is the idea being investigated by the ACC -- change the building into a rec center.

Obviously not enough information to reach a legitimate conclusion.
Residents need to contact ACC for clarity and answer to if true, why is such an action of benefit to residents.

Did the developer offer it to the AAC?

Does the developer want to dump it for some reason?

Is the restaurant still opened for business?

Our group of 21 golfers ate there yesterday and everyone said the food was really good. We trickled in as we were finishing and everyone was eating within 10 minutes after they ordered.

And before anyone chimes in about the food being nuked - I. DON'T. CARE. It was good and it was hot.

Thank you, we are planning on going there early next week and didn't want to drive and find it closed.

This used to be our favorite place for Sunday brunch after TDS closed it's door. Not so much anymore.

The Red Sauce/Johnny Rockets/Lopez/Havana group takes over Glenview as of 5/1. I talked to a Sulliman family member and was told that Hacienda was not part of that deal, but was not off the table.

Agree. At one time it was one the best sunday brunches that slowly have disappeared here in the north forty of the villages.
