Poll — admire or not?
 

This thread just asks who you admired .... or not. I’ll create a second thread with my comments, etc. after getting some results.

I admired my father.

Guess part of it posted before the poll showed up. Listing person heroes is great, but please take the time to vote. Thank you.

I can't vote for any of the sports figures you listed since you didn't list the greatest one ever and the one I admire the most. Where is TB12 in the poll?

I ignored Tom Brady for a reason. These guys all have one thing in common (besides being well known).

None of the above wasn't an option. Also, I admired certain things about some of them, but I was equally disappointed about other aspects of the same people. So an overall "I admire him" doesn't apply at all.

No women? That's sexist.

They all cheated on their wives, so I admire none of them.

They didn’t all cheat on their wives, that we know of. Thomas Jefferson was very much in love with his wife until she died. His affair with his slave, Sally Hemings, started after her death both before and after she was married. I included him because of this and because I have difficulty believing that the sex was consensual, at least in the beginning. Sally was young when the affair started.

Kobe Bryant was not married when he was accused of rape, just engaged. But his comment that he could see why the hotel mail might have felt coerced was so egregious to me that I had to include him. To me, he is the ultimate slimeball and that he is now being lauded on talk show after talk show for writing a children’s book absolutely nauseates me.

Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Roger Clemens all had affairs while married. Dan Marino had a child out of wedlock.

One of the worst offenders to me was Dwight David Eisenhower. Not only did he have an affair with his driver, Kay Summersby, while in Europe, he set her up in the White House as a secretary. Nothing like slapping Mamie in the face! We might also add that he wasn’t exactly chivalrous towards Kay. He had her drive him to the front more than once, putting her in great personal danger.

If Tiger Woods is to be condemned and reviled for cheating on his wife, then, so, too, should all of these men. I’ve seen comments on here that I thought went beyond the pale for Tiger. Gloating when he lost, claiming the pain he went through was deserved, etc.

Tiger admitted his mistakes and apologized. He got treatment. He has donated millions to charity through his foundation but yet he is reviled. Please explain to me what he did that was so wrong to deserve the comments he has gotten here.

Obviously, my list could have been much longer. FDR, MLK, JFK, Trump probably should have been included. Tom Brady could have made the list considering he he cheated on Giselle before they were married.

People are human. We all make mistakes. The Bible says to forgive and to not judge. So, why is there forgiveness for the likes of Eisenhower and even Bryant but not Woods?

Men are pigs..............we have demon crap in our heads all the time. Like the movie, there are "A Few Good Men."

There are certainly much worse addictions to have than making love to various people. It would be quite a problem in most traditional marriages though. Even though I doubt if love had much to do with some of Tiger's interactions with other people.

Eisenhower's relationship with his driver certainly looked like they were in love but whether they ever consummated it is up in the air for the historians it seems. He looks like he was quite a prude so it might never have been.
