I'm confused

I have heard two versions of how many people live in TV.

1. There are approx. 80,000 residents with 105,000 residents at full build out.

2. There are approx. 80,000 homes with 105,000 homes at full build out.

If it is homes, the population would ultimately be 160,000 or more. Anyone know, if it population or homes that is being referred to? Not that it affects my decision to ultimately live there or not, but just a matter of clarification. :undecided:

Generally speaking, the ratio in TV averages out to two residents per household. Currently there are about 35000 homes and a build out to 50000 expected but with possible expansion below route 466A, I’ve heard some projections at 60000 homes.

thevillagescommercialproperty.com - The Villages Commercial Sales & Property Leasing site states...

..."approximately 78,000 residents with a projected build out of more than 105,000 by 2017."...

Lots of interesting statistics there!

oatmealgirls seems to have the correct information.

Now that, supposedly some 30% have returned north, traffic should be less. Anyone see any sign of that?

Absolutely. Traffic is less, golf courses not as busy, pickle ball courts avail in prime times, zero wait time the last couple of weeks at restaurants after 5pm. Squares look to be less crowded also that is except for the Rocky & The Rollers show last week in LSL.

No, it is not you. It is correct that the link cycles back to TOTV. We have been told that the Villages administration has blocked access to any of its sites from within TOTV. We don't know why. We've tried to find out, but can't get any answers.

We just want to be good neighbors here. We've had untold dozens of people tell us that they made the decision to move to The Villages because of Talk of The Villages. So, we think we're good for business. We get the impression that The Administration doesn't agree.

That's absurd. TOTV is responsible for hundreds of people deciding on The Village. TOTV is a big asset for them. They should be grateful.in my humble opinion.

I was just alerting the poster about the link. You would be surprised how many people do not know how to cut and paste. :o

Donna2, try ajbrown's link. For some reason, it works.

Don't know why TV Admin wish to block TOTV links, but my guess is that TV Admin wishes to control the media and message inside TV, and here's TOTV providing alternative sources of info for what's happening inside the bubble. TOTV is also an advertising competitor, although my guess is that control of the message is more the issue.

This is not a criticism of the developer, just an observation. And as Russ says, I could be wrong.

p.s., I agree that TOTV helps TV sales.

This scares me

A diverse, affluent, well-educated population with ample leisure time is moving to The Villages - literally by the thousands each year.

I wonder what they consider "affluent."? Although we are not poor and think we can swing a half-way decent lifestyle at TV, I would not consider myself affluent. Will I be over my head down there?:faint:

Hi Donna2,
Keep in mind that the purpose of the http://thevillagescommercialproperty.com/ website is to market commercial property. "Affluent," "well-educated," and "ample leisure time," are top-of-the-food-chain buzzwords for this target market.

Look at other commercial real estate markets and you will find these same buzzwords in their marketing materials if there be any truth at all to these claims.

That said, yes, I think TV is by-and-large a relatively "affluent, well-educated community with ample leasure time." But there are also a broad mix of housing options and the baseline "lifestyle/ recreational" costs are relatively affordable compared with other places.

Obviously, I don't know your numbers. But, I know you don't have to be wealthy to live in TV.

I understand but my American Heritage Dictionary has :

affluent> adj. 1. Wealthy. 2. Plentiful;abundant. YIKES. I better not let hubby read this. LOL

Only joking, I know that there are homes from $95,000 to over a million. You can guess which end of the spectrum I'll be on. LOL

As I see it, you should be fine. We are far from "affluent", but we are comfortable. I think we're well educated, but that definition is somewhat subjective. Can we afford to eat out everyday...no; can we afford to play the championship courses everyday...no; can we afford to go to all the shows at the Savannah Center...no; and the list goes on. There are many things we cannot afford, but that's ok. We do what we can...we eat out, we see some shows, we play the championship courses. We just don't do as much as some others. There is still more to do here than we can possibly do and much of it is for very little or no cost. There is definitely something here for everyone. Not everyone has to budget...we do.

Come on down...you'll love it!

Now....if I can just hit the lottery......:D
