Shower light fixture
 

The light in our shower blew out. We cannot figure out how to put a new bulb...or if it is a bulb or the entire fixture. It is a walk in shower. The entire unit can be pulled out, but don’t see a way to open it or put in a bulb. Anyone know what is used in these lights?

Typically the lens cover pulls away and you can get access to the bulb. Call Home Warranty, ask for the specific model ans the installer, call the installer and ask how to replace the bulb. If you do not get satisfactory results from the installed, contact the manufacturer and download the instruction manual which should have the info.

I do not claim to be any kind of expert but as the bathroom is wet
and you are often shoe less stuff like proper grounding and ground fault interrupters are important and there are codes for that.

In our bathroom we have recessed fixtures in the shower and in the main part of the bathroom. I've changed out almost all the bulbs in our home to LEDs except the one in the shower. All the other builder installed bulbs were regular 65w tungsten bulbs.
Not sure why as they are slightly more expensive, the ones in the two showers are the regular thread in floods but they are the florescent type.

Thanks for the information. I have done some online research, and based on what appears to be the fixture in my shower, it may be be a sealed unit. So, I have called the electrician and then will know exactly what it is and get the proper unit replaced or whatever is necessary. I agree..in the shower, since electricity and water are not good companions, the fixtures are not just a light bulb in a socket!

Not to belabor the point, but in a large number of homes here, the vent and fan units are actually a light bulb in a socket. The bulb is exposed and is simply unscrewed to remove and replace. No plastic shield at all. Nothing magic or dangerous about it, as the circuit is GFCI protected

Yes, and we do have a fixture like that in the master bath. But the one in the walk in shower is different. We did pull it out, and there is a ‘can’; no bulb is visible and there is no way that we can see to open it. Will be interesting to see how the electrician addresses the issue tomorrow.
