Democrats anymore? My Dad was a Democrat. JFK was a democrat. I don't see the likes of them today. Is it just liberals and progressives now? Where are the Kennedy Democrats? JFK types not Teddy or Robert types.

You are so right YODA....I was, for many years, a dedicated and hard working Democrat, but the current party is owned by the far left (see Soros, etc). This current party shows none of the attributes of JFK..NONE !

One could make an arguable case that George Bush was the last old school Democrat. Ironic.

On the lighter side

Yoda.....I thought you would enjoy Sgt. Friday, an old school democrat. lecturing Mr. Obama about democratic values.

Can you just picture a modern-day "democrat" saying the following:

Quote:

Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.
or:

Quote:

We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
or, perhaps:

Quote:

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.
All from JFK.

Great quotes...this current Democratic party has completely sold out and become the enablers of our society. Just vote for them and they will give you anything they can steal !!!

You're full of surprises; but I guess I say that because I don't really know you.
I've been trying to explain to the Kool-Aid drinkers that this isn't the Democrat Party of old; that the old Dems wouldn't recognize today's party. Hopefully the Tea Party Movement will jolt the Dems into readjusting their focus and give us two parties again that love this country for the right reasons as espoused by our Founders. The Republicans can also use a readjustment, just not nearly as big.

I believe we need to have something happen to us along the lines of what just happened in the UK. They had 3 major parties running and no majority emerged. The Conservatives and teh Liberal Democrats got together and in NINE DAYS outlined a series of compromises for the good of the country (I wonder what the Labor Party is thinking now). Some details:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/8693535.stm

I especially noted where they say it was more than just adopting policies where their ideology overlapped.

Look at the table in that article where they list some of the huge compromises.

- Partially privatizing the Royal Mail. Now, while the USPS is outside the government and has been since the 1970s, you'd never see this here. Union domination to say the least. (My ex-wife has worked there for over 7 years and refuses to join the unions)

- Revamping NHS (National Health System). Think of this as Medicare/Medicaid reform.

- "Free schools" - making it easier for 'outsiders' to set up new 'free schools' in the public system. Think of this as allowing a private school to be funded with public money.

- The Border Force to now be a part of the Serious and Organized Crimes Agency.

These are only some of the agreements that came out of the negotiations. Does anyone think for a New York Minute that we, in this country, could do something like this in less than two weeks? Could the Democrats and Republicans get together and put their petty partisan politicking and demagoguery aside for the good of the country?

No. Because as long as one party has a majority, they don't HAVE to. The majority party can do as it pleases and the minoruity party can complain about it and make gains in the next election.

If we split a national election 3 ways - THAT might be the wake-up call. If *nobody* had a majority, maybe THEN we could get our legislooters to do their jobs properly.

It may be too late

The Obama crowd has detroyed the Democrat Party probably beyond repair.

The Democrat Party still gets votes from Liberals and progressives who refuse to accept that their party and its leaders no longer represent them.

The Democrats who continue to vote for the Democrat Party are helping in the destruction of America.

It is a mystery why they do not get it.
