All I want is..........
a phone call back. I've been calling for one straight week trying to find someone reputable to trim my palm & oak trees. I've left messages and no one returns phone calls. Anyone know of a reputable, dependable, affordable tree service? Thanks!

I read your post and totally understand your frustration. Trying to find reputable home services in TV is a bit of a gamble. I can't really recommend anyone because most of the people who have done my yard have been one time wonders and trying to track them down again is seldom guaranteed. Good luck to you!

This is not just a problem in The Villages, but everywhere. A "reputable" contractor would hire legal people legally, pay a fair wage, pay the required SSN taxes and other employment taxes, and have the required Workers Compensation Insurance, licenses, and liability insurance. Unfortunately, such a contractor would make no profit and would go out of business within a few months because homeowners are not willing to pay for these services and taxes. Instead, they choose to hire non-reputable contractors, who do none of the things I cited. And, these non-reputable contractors get all of the work.

Bill Law, Showtime Landscaping, (352) 303-1334. Not sure what you consider affordable but he shows up when he says he will and if something changes he calls. We have had success with him and he also does our mowing.

For those of you who need your palms trimmed, please, please, please -- don't let your tree person butcher your palm.
I see so many palm trees that have been pruned upright. I don't know how else to describe what I see but when they are trimmed that way, the tree is weakened and could split off in high winds. Let me explain . . . . . If YOU were a palm tree and held your arms straight out sidewards so that you would look like a "T," that is how your tree should look. Palm fronds should NOT be trimmed so drastically that what is remaining stands straight up in the air. They should gracefully form a "T" shape. I see so many palms that have been murdered. Don't let your tree person do that. |
We are lucky to have cooperative extension
It is free and you can ask about what you want to do or have done as well as the best time to do it.
Since, they cannot come to your place, photos. samples etc are a good idea. |
The land of promise! Good luck.
