To the uninformed they might say the intention is appropriate. Well in my opinion it is not.
He muses about the US leadership abroad and most of us as well as the rest of the world would ask if his new world order could be in as worse shape as the USA currently is.
Words! And words only. Housing and employment are an ongoing disaster and he touts what he foresees for the international community.
Another hollow speech. The not too enthusiastic applause during his speech was an indicator of how unimpressive his words were.

I really do not think the man has a grasp of his responsibilities. He knows and does only one thing....talks...makes speeches...plays politics...while Rome (the USA) is burning.

I continue to wait for and look for any positives. But until such time as he delivers on something....ANYTHING, I am afraid it is wishful thinking.

Please tell me one thing he has proposed, implemented and accomplished that has had a positive result for the USA and it's peoples.

The allegation is made that the President has done nothing but talk. You try to demonstrate that the initial allegation is false. Then the list of accomplishments is criticized as "socialist".

I guess we can agree that original allegation is false...that President Obama really has accomplished quite a lot. Now the only question is how the entire list can be categorized as "socialist".

Let's see, being only roughly selective from the list...embryonic stem cell research, signed into law the ability of a woman who proves pay discrimination to sue her employer, appointed first Latino to Supreme court, families of fallen soldiers have expenses covered to be on hand when the body arrives at Dover AFB, closed offshore tax havens, increased pay and benefits for the military, etc. Yeah, that really sounds like a list of socialist accomplishments to me.

Let's review. Definition of "socialist": member of a political party that supports the theory of economic organization based on either public or direct worker ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources.

Yep, sounds like a thoughtful criticism to me. But the question still remains, Wayne. Why bother?

VK.....I hope you and Wayne have an annual subscription to MOVEON...wow...just take the first one...the single most crippling bill ever for our economy with only one good thing....pre existing conditions...NOTHING for health costs.

You can make all the lists you want.....just dwell on the first one...it is a total financial disaster that will tie up future congress sessions trying to fix and I dont think that is even possible.

There is nothing shallow about paying so that families can meet their loved one at Dover AFB. Helping families pay for the rising costs of education is shallow? Better body armor shallow? I fear to say maybe it's you that is shallow.

I'm not defending President Obama's administration. I think he's been POTUS as some pretty good things have occurred. But with regard to fiscal responsibility, he's been lacking in my opinion. That will cost him my vote in 2012.

But I will defend him against the shallow criticism that started this thread. The criticism that he is all talk and has accomplished nothing is false at best, more likely intended only to inflame the debate.

If we could all discuss facts and issues, we'd be a lot better prepared to choose new elected officials in the future.

To answer your question, our fiscal problems will ultimately be solved with a combination of deep and life-changing cuts in government spending as well as tax increases. No one wants to hear that, but again I suggest that everyone become familiar with the federal budget and which spending can be cut and what cannot and how revenues might be increased to begin to fill the deficit gap. You will be alarmed. As I've said before...think Greece.

VK....I can't disagree with what you say.
However, the accomplishments Obama has had so far are taknig us down a long dark path of debt that will change the way of life that I like and don't want to see change.

I really had hope for Obama but that is all gone now and I am looking forward to him being a former president.
He needs to stop and take a breath before we are Greece. He has been one of the most partican and devisive presidents of my lifetime.
He brings out the worst in politics.

I think the answer is term limits and don't vote for incumbents

VK...maybe you can tell us why those who worry about Alinsky, Cloward Piven influences and the concurrent apparent execution of those strategies, should sleep better at night. Perhaps waynet will do some real research on Cloward-Piven and debunk it as part of the vast right wing conspiracy. To date, however, the silence from Obama supporters and the left on the Obama agenda and Cloward-Piven has been deafening....even on TOTV.

The Silence - from the left has been equally deafening on Obama's lock step execution of components of the Marxist Sol Alinsky's rules for radicals. Even the late Alinsky's son has praised Obama for following and practicing his father's Marxist tenets. I could waste space by a characterization of the state of our economy, the increasing national debt and the mind boggling and ever increasing entitlements this adminsitration is responsible for....just like Cloward-Piven envisioned it....but, I think we all understand it.

Many on this board would really love to hear from waynet, VK or any Obama supporters who can help us understand prima facie evidence of Marxist, radical tactics by the Obama administration. Is it going to be a good thing for America? Have Americans ever shed blood and treasure fighting Marxism? Was Kruschev right when he said he would bury us? Did he know America was going to be taken from within?

Energy independence.

The war in Afghanistan
The war in Iraq
"Changing" how "business" is conducted in Washington.

Just to name a few that like a growing majority of Americans had and still have a higher expectation that that which has been delivered. The good of the country deserves more accomplishment on these critical way of life threatening issues.

Shallow is a perspective but most assuredly not mine. Me, like a growing number of Americans expect more to happen and have happened on the priority issues affecting this country.

First of all I am happy that you called out Wayne for his continuing stealing of other peoples thoughts without giving the proper credit. It is a chronic habit of his and I would much prefer to hear what HE thinks rather than what he is being told to think !

First will defend my use of the word shallow. I do think the list is shallow, and that is the best adjective I can find to use. This man has lied in his first year more than any other President and he just does not care about it..he simply sluffs it off like his smoking and drinking (Yes, that may seem shallow but the man has been told he has to quit both and he still does not..what does that say about anyone..think your friends).

Now, CABO..great post. During the campaign when I posted a lot about this mans training and background (Keep in mind he has never done anything but politics in his entire life and has only been exposed to the far left wing of the democratic party)...VK once said in a post...if he is that bad, we will just vote him out after 4 years.

The health bill ALONE is going to tie up our congress for many years and it will tie up state budgets for many years. This was a bill conceived in backrooms, with payoffs (bribes), that completely turned its back on its original purpose (cut health costs) and became SIMPLY A POLITICAL MOVE.

I am sure there are a number of items that Obama has done well, but those smalll things are so overshadowed by the mood he has generated throughout the country (what a great bi partisan guy he is), the fear he has generated, and remember he wont even stand up and face the press unless he has control over it all. Wonder why ?
