solar tubes in roman showers, good idea??

We have the Wisteria II and have the large walk in roman shower. We are thinking of installing a solatube and heard from a neighbor that their installer talked them out of it! Installer said, "You are really only in your shower a small amt of time, why waste $$ putting one in your shower? Put it in the kitchen instead"... Just wondering if anyone on this site has actually had a tube installed in their master bathroom ( roman shower style) but regretted/and or love it ?? Thanks!

solar tubes

I have a Jasmin II with the large walk in shower. We installed a solar tube and love it. Also 1 in the guest bath, kitchen and just had2 put in the living room. I had Solr Guys do them the did a very neat, professional job. I'd recomend them to anybody. If you'd like to see send me a PM.

We have a Jasmine. I found it a bit dark. We put a solar tube in the guest bathroom, one in the kitchen, one in the dining room, and two more in the living room. All done by the Solar Guys.

A solar tube in the shower? Don't forget that Fumar has his pilot's license and may be flying overhead. :plane::laugh:

I have a Wisteria and had a solar tube put in the walk in shower. Love it! Only problem is in the winter it doesn't get light until later and I might take a shower when it is still dark. Also had one installed in guest bath - quests can't figure out how to turn off the lights! Had another installed in the living/dining area. I can get addicted to solar tubes!

Having one installed in Sumter Ct. requires a $65 permit now but the Solar Tube Guys take care of getting the permit for you.

Have put 3 in my villa. Kitchen and both baths. Solar guys did all the installs and I can't say enough good about them. Great job. Really lighten up the place. I am still trying to turn the light off at times. Love the solar tubes.

When my wife and I were looking at homes, we were in a pre-owned that had at least one solar tube. I mentioned to the realtor that I would love to have some of those. He told me that they could be installed for abut $200. Does this sound about right and for those of you that have more than one, do you get a discount for multiples? Thanks in advance.

Price is way off from what I paid. it will be determined by the size of the tube. I did get a discount for two. I would plan on 400 plus.

I had a solar tube installed in my shower (not a roman Shower) and I love it.
it was so dark in the shower the solartube made a great difference.

I think Solar Guys are greathttps://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/images/smilies/024.gif

We had 5 put in our CYV and think they are great. The one in the master by our shower is perfect and I like the large one in the garage the most.

We have several solar tubes and during the day they are great, but at night, they let in too much dark.

If you covered the bottom of the tube, that would keep the dark out.

BobKat1, sorry to tell you but one needs to cover the top of the solar tube on the roof to keep the dark out! That way the dark can't seep in. :D

I'll be damned if I'm going to climb up on the roof every night. What I do is shine a flashlight at the inside lens. It dilutes the dark for several hours. Then I have to get up at about 2 a.m. and do it again, but it's better than climbing up on the roof. There might be a raccoon up there.

I didn't know you could say that. But hey, you're the boss. :024:

TH is only the boss until he falls off the roof!;)
