How to hide the wires when mounting a Smart TV on the wall? And what weight of large TV is ok with wall mount?

Almost any new TV can be mounted on the wall, and there are lots of ways to run the wires behind the drywall. If you use a receiver as an HDMI switching box, you only need two cables to the TV, one HDMI cable and a power cable. But, I have never mounted a TV on a wall, because it is easier to buy a TV stand and set the TV on top of it. But, if you really want it on the wall, I would let Best Buy do it for about $200.

In my past life the AV guys have always used something like this:

But we were always working with new construction. It's more difficult to install with existing finished wallls

Thank you, my hubby loves to watch sports. He wants a wall TV. We have a 2007 home with drywall.

When you purchase the wall mount hardware, the instructions will include information about the weight and size TV that is appropriate. Mounts come in different sizes.

We had an electrician install an outlet high in the wall, behind where the TV would go. Until we got around to that, the power cord and cable cord went up the wall and we covered it with plastic cord conduit that we painted the same as the wall. It camouflaged well.

What I did was go on Amazon and I had only a 42" to mount in the guest BR. A mount that required only one stud and could hold up to 55" and can swivel in and out and tilt was only $27 with free shipping. Then I went to Home Depot and bought an in-wall cord and cable kit to hide the wires for about $40, you'll need a drill. So I did it for about $75, but I wasn't in a hurry and took my time and the TV was on the smaller size.

Easy solution as John W. suggested, call Tom at Villagers AV. He is professional, fast, cleans up as he goes, and the price will be fair.

We have a 75 inch mounted to the wall, but I made sure that it spanned 3 studs. There was only 6 inches between the bottom of the TV and the furniture, so a small framed picture completely hid the wires.

Hubby says, that sounds good! Loves the size of the TV....

Ace Hardware has a similar conduit that I used to hide my cables (I've got power, HDMI, USB and network cables running up to the TV and an optical digital cable running down). I've got a 65" TV on a mount I bought from Costco for about $75. It's not as fancy (or as expensive) as having the cables and power outlet truly hidden behind the TV as a professional installer could have done but it does the job quite well.
