Lamwn speinkler systems in TV? If you have a system with
 

multiple zones and 4 years or older....do you find the system to be high maintenance?

Last summer at the 3.5 year mark I had to replace 4 0f 7 control valves...$650...very labor intense to dig out the box and get at the plumbing.

This week once again there is a leaking valve in the same valve box. Hopefully it is one of the new ones to be replaced for free. But I suspect it is not and will cost me another $100 plus.

Over the years prior to FL we have had sprinkler systems in all our properties and have NEVER had to replace one valve or sprinkler head over the years. The only modest expense when we were far enough North was getting the system winterized.

What has your experience been.

Bummer!

My system was installed in Dec '04 and has never given a moment of trouble! I have had one or two heads replaced, but because something damaged them. Minimal cost.

Sounds like you may want a second opinion!

We just had our sprinkler system checked out and the guy told me that the seal was cracked on 6 rotors. $27 each including installation and no guarantee. There is better pressure and coverage but I too wonder how often this will happen. Our system will be three years old in August. I plan to do more research before I have someone else out. He also said that not running the system in the winter is bad for the seals. That is my very limited experience.

Minimal problems with irrigation
 

System has 6 zones, Water Wizard (753-5974) has serviced a couple of times but only because we wanted to change direction of heads because of over-growth....They are fair and ON TIME (unique here in TV)

How does one get by not running your system in the winters ???????

Our system is 10+ years old and never had to replace a control valve. Just an occasional sprinkler head that gets damaged by cars or lawnmowers. Isn't your control box accessible? Why do you have to dig it out? Sounds like you got ripped off!

5 years no controller problems. My box is close to the house with a lid.....no digging would be required for access. I have relocated and added sprinkler heads myself.
