"Oldies" can mean a multitude of genres now.

It can mean Swing and big band music.
It can be Rogers & Hammerstein musical music.
It can be Frank Sinatra & Brat Pack music.
It can be the Grateful Dead.
Be-bop from the 1950's.
Rockabilly and Elvis from the 50's.
Protest folk from the 1960's.
Psychedelic music from the 1960's and 1970's.
New Wave from the 1980's
Heavy Metal including Black Sabbath and Led Zep from the 1970's and 1980's.

ALL of the above are "oldies" and the term will mean different things to different Villagers, depending on what music was popular when they were teenagers and college students.

Yep. Oldies to my father were "Oh Suzanna" and "Oh My Darling Clementine". He loved those songs as he was born in '98.

Absolutely right. To be specific, the playlist includes songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Some Doo Wop (Orlons, Johnnie & Joe, Jimmy Charles) Neil Sedaka, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Etta James, Temptations and many more. These are the beloved songs in "my memory bank".

Good list, does not include any disco or rap : )

Neither of those two genres lend themselves very well to choruses. I do love dancing to disco (used to enter Hustle contests in High School). Rap isn't sung, it's lyric poetry, so it's disqualified by definition!

Also didn't include soul or R&B (love both!), though there are some oldies in the gospel category that are already proven winners for choruses.
