Bridge over Turnpike detail starting to surface

A few details can be determined by the attached plans on file of the bridge over the Turnpike.

A single 300' span (unsupported in the middle)
15' wide deck about 20' above the roadway
designed for a max golf cart speed of 18 mph (oops!)
Towers similar to bridge at Brownwood so likely to look the same only longer.

It will be interesting to see how the bridge reacts when a large number of trucks pass under at 75 mph at the same time.

According to today's newspaper the Brownwood bridge will be set the week of 18 August.

The setting of both bridges will be interesting to watch.

Going to be wild! It would be great to watch it being set.

Just a guess, but I would think it would be done in the middle of the night.

Thanks Don, I noticed they have done some work on the MMP near hogeye where the current MMP ends. It looks like they are getting ready to pave. It will be interesting to see when the connectivity will occur.

Thanks Don, never been closer!

I have to admit to being a bit surprised, at it being a single...300' unsupported span.

I suppose with its relatively light load requirements it will be plenty adequate, but I will personally be curious to see the final installed design...and its arch radius.

Agree seems like a long span but that’s not my job

Perfect and Thank You NoMoSno. At the one minute 17 second part of the video you shared, it showed the beautiful fencing that will fully encapsulate the Bridge for safety. Beautiful, the correct size and gauge. :mademyday:
