60,449 homes in the development

20% increase under consideration in Southern Oaks. Must read article in the villages new of August 13 2019,

Good. Just as long as they keep up the infrastructure for the rest of TV and keep building golf facilities (championship and executive courses, driving ranges, etc.), the Developers can continue to build till long after most of us here are gone deep six.

As long as they're selling they'll build more and you can't blame them.

I found it interesting to note that in the local news section of the Monday, August 12 paper was stated “175 The monthly average of new homes built in the Wildwood section of the Villages from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019, according to the city’s proposed budget.”

So, is the current rate of the building of new houses in The Villages about the same as in the previous four years at between 2,100 to 2,300 houses per year?

The most amazingly fun place for adults to enjoy our later years. Keep building dreams for all to enjoy.

The longer they keep building the longer it will be before the inmates take over the asylum. Build baby build.[emoji537][emoji537][emoji537][emoji537][emoji537][emoji537][emoji6]

I agree with all the positive comments. If you do the math, it means they will build for like 26 more years. I have a question - does anyone else get annoyed by the villages news articles like I do? They are obviously written by someone NOT from this area, and who can't read a map. Look at these passages-

The Southern Oaks area roughly is south of State Road 44 to the intersection of Warm Springs Avenue (County Road 468) and U.S. 301. It also stretches eastward from U.S. 301 to past County Road 470.

and
Commissioners also voted to submit for state review a fifth amendment to the Villages of Southern Oaks development plan that adds eight scattered parcels to the project area. The largest is east of County Road 470, about a mile north of the Coleman Federal Prison. Other parcels are near the intersection of county roads 470 and 501 and north of the Florida Turnpike.

How can you be east of 470? 470 runs east to west. And they already own the land 1 mile north of the prison. These descriptions make zero sense.

The main jist of the article is fine - and I am happy about it.

Who, in their right mind, would want to live one mile away from the prison? Baffles me.

I agree with the above post, and I would add lap swimming sports pools to the infrastructure list. Unfortunately, they are not keeping the Championship Golf course infrastructure anywhere near on pace with the amount of new homes being built.

Not keeping up with golf courses or pools for classes.

I would rather live one mile from a maximum security federal prison than 5 miles from active drug scenes and high crime areas where the bad guys are still running wild

Couldn't agree more. Living near a Prison is a Non Issue. Just more unnecessary tears. :boxing2:
