air conditioner problem

My friend who lives at Oakland Hills has a problem with his ac unit. The fan does not seem to blow. The exhaust is going but no air coming in. Any suggestions for whats wrong and how about an honest repair company. I've used munns in the past and have mixed feelings about them. Thanks. Tom

That happened to us a few months ago - a lizard got on the control board and when it started up it got fried and shorted out the control board.

Got charged about $75 by Hilliard's AC & Heating - Ocala for the service call and replacement control board (that the service man had on his truck)

(The recommended putting moth balls near the control board to keep critters out)

Try Chuck Farrell Air Conditioning. Small company, honest, and won't upsell unless you really need something. Highly recommend. cell: 516-0192

I just had a guy come out here in Delaware for the same problem. $90 service call. He didn't have the control board on the truck so I had to wait three days to order it. $90 for return visit and $500 to install a new board. ($350 for board plus two hours labor)

ac problem update

My friend called villages ac and they came out this morning. Found the ac tube connection into the mobile was off and repaired it. A pretty quick fix. He said they charged him $180. That sounds a bit high to me, but I'm a shopper.

I like paying the $75 better.

(The board that they installed only worked for two days and had to be replaced. Needed to order a replacement board that took three days. Installed the new board and two days later the owner of the company came by to make sure it was still working. Four trips and two boards for the $75)

I know a little about a/c repair, but have no clue what it was you said they did to repair it. Well as long as its working now, no time not to have it.

ac repair

I guess he said the ducting had come undone at the joint and he repaired it.

These days everything is electronic or controlled by electronics. In my case the main circuit board in the air handler fried. The compressor would come on but the blower wouldn't come on to circulate the cold air. I certainly hope it was a much more expensive board than Chuck's. I paid a lot more for it! lol

This last Friday night at 9:00PM my wife told me it was 82 in the house and the setting was at 75.

I have an extended warranty from Munn's. Called them the guy said he had 2 calls ahead of me and it would be around midnight before he could get to my home. He got to my place around 12:30 AM.

Replaced a cappacitor. My bill was nothing as of course I paid back 6 years ago when I purchased the extended warranty.

I went to bed and slept like a baby.

Hi Tom, A friend of mine that I met in TV is one of the most honest people I have ever met and a fantastic repairman, licensed and insured. His name is Stan Swander and his wife's email address is sandyswander@yahoo.com
I don't know his off the top of my head. Prices are reasonable and much better than Munn's. I had them in my 1st house.:MOJE_whot:

I also know Stan Swander and can attest to his honesty and dedication.
