The only exchange for trading carbon credits
Does anyone know anything about the organization Chicago Climate Exchange? I found their website and just wondered if anyone has any info about them.
From their overview page: "Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) operates North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide. "CCX Members are leaders in greenhouse gas (GHG) management and represent all sectors of the global economy, as well as public sector innovators. Reductions achieved through CCX are the only reductions made in North America through a legally binding compliance regime, providing independent, third party verification by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly NASD). The founder and chairman of CCX is economist and financial innovator Dr. Richard L. Sandor, who was named a Hero of the Planet by Time Magazine in 2002 for founding CCX, and in 2007 as the 'father of carbon trading.' " Take a look at their directors: http://www.chicagoclimatex.com/content.jsf?id=67 http://www.chicagoclimatex.com/content.jsf?id=821 |

I have heard that CCX stands to make trillions from cap & trade. Obama is involved. Beck did a whole program on it.

You know, I might me more ameliorable to the idea of carbon credits if people were more up-front as to where the damn money goes.
I, personally, wouldn't have a problem with the idea of taking extra revenues from 'dirty' sources to hgelp lower the costs of clean ones. As it is, being one of the 'early adopters' in technology, I know well about paying more for certain technologies when they're young. If not for the 'early adopter', the rest of the world would never be able to afford the advances in, say, computers that we now take for granted. But you never really hear of where the money goes. And isn't the old canard: "Follow the money"? |
