Classic Movies

One more...and hopefully last...redo of this thread. :) Previous thread was going okay, but that poll just cluttered it up annoyingly. I contacted the mods and admin about deleting it, but it couldn't be done, and I want it out of the way once and for all. So here we go again. :)

Just to refresh your memory or in case we get any newcomers...I will select one movie about every week or so as a suggestion for everybody to watch or comment on. Very informal. But you can post on any classic movie you want to at any time. Please do.

So let's get started...again! Heheh. As a tip-of-the-cap to M. Amee, who responded first and kindly to the previous thread, and because the movie she mentioned finished first in the poll :D , let's go with...

The Bad Seed (1956)

The Bad Seed (1956) - Rotten Tomatoes

Come on. What do you think? Let's get this new (and last) thread going. :)

Saw this movie years ago. Patty Mc Cormick was the evil child. She always reminded me of my cousin. Even still I loved the movie.

great movie-one of my cult favorites.

Dear Mr. P. Bear: I do admire your stamina for continually reworking this subject, but I think my brain is out of classics. I will, however, drop by and see what is being said.

At least on my cable service, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has gone subscription.

Say it ain’t so!! :(

It is so and I say a pox on Comcast. The best thing they had to offer is now gone.

Yeah. You pay your monthly rate for a service and then they take away part of the service. Not good.

I'll post my review of The Bad Seed soon, but prior to that I'd like to ask for some input...

I hate to suggest movies that require a subscription of some sort or a rental or purchase fee just to watch. So come on classic movie fans. How about posting some suggestions for classic movies that are the easiest to find and cheapest to watch? :)

Great movie...one of our favorites!

By saying subscription, they're charging an extra fee to see that channel? I wouldn't care what it costs, I wouldn't go without TCM. I have Directv for the past 11 years and have Premier Package with all the premium channels (HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, TMC) and HD Tier (MGM, HDNET, SONY) and with NFL Sunday Ticket it's over $200 a month. I haven't yet added the 3 new Epix Movie channels because I can't watch everything. As it is, I watch a lot of TV, so why should a retired person deprive themselves of something they enjoy that you can afford. I have a 75" Samsung 4K TV and a killer surround sound, without content it's useless.

Last month I brought up the movie Abbot & Costello meet Frankenstein. I have it recorded right now, it was on TCM November 1st. I have so many movies recorded both new and old and with football (NFL & College) and NHL Hockey, I have too much to watch.

With all due respect, I think you're missing the point a little.

Nobody's talking about depriving themselves of anything. Removing a service that has long been included in a fixed cable rate with no reduction in price is an issue of principle if nothing else.

And by the way, John, keep up the contributions to the thread. You are obviously a knowledgeable classic movie person! :)

I have thousands of movies on a 16 TB HD local network. It is about the size of a lunch box. I no longer keep DVD's or VHS tapes, etc.

I actually like this one better than I thought I would. Very creepy seeing such evil in such a young, beautiful child. But it works. At times I thought it was going to drag just a bit, but it caught itself just in time...for my tastes anyway.

And I know most of us are probably a bit long in the tooth for this consideration...heheh...but if you're thinking about having kids, you might want to skip this one!! :D

PB Rating: 8/10

NOTE: I really appreciate the input from everyone, but it has waned quite a bit lately. And while I really like to watch old movies, I don't do it that often to keep the thread going single-handedly. Tal's tact of a separate thread for each movie might be a better way to go. I don't know. Anyway, we'll see. :)
