Sneaky Tax Appraiser Is Watching Us!

4 Attachment(s)
I caught them taking pictures of my Neighbors Property.
It is bad enough are Property taxes went up by 25 % in Sumter County But now they are playing Peek-A-Boo around our homes.
The Sumter County emblem on the side of a Chevy Impala is white with small Red lettering to blend in with the car.
There Windows are tinted better than 75% so you can't see who's inside the car (Drivers and Passenger Windows) which the Florida State Law i believe should be no more than 5%.
Why are they Hiding and acting so covert.
I caught them taking pictures of my Neighbors Property's.
I don't like there sneaky tactics and i believe they are not only putting themselves but the public in danger. If the Sumter County Assessors office is willing to break D.O.T. State and Federal Laws what other laws are they willing to break.
Local Government and big brother is watching you!

Bogie Shooter 11-08-2019 04:16 PM

Did your neighbor have some recent additions? If so how else would it be verified?
A new conspiracy is born!

Chellybean 11-08-2019 04:31 PM

No addition's as fair as i know. It can be done by Permits.
Just FYI don't shoot the messenger.
I particular don't like big brother watch with that type of intent.
Why are there windows in the car so dark and why aren't the signs on the cars bigger to properly identify them.

I think you where missing my point.
Search the TOTV and you will see the tax appraisers where taking the liberty of walking from house to house looking in windows which i think is a invasion of our privacy's.
here is the link. It is a very common practice by assessors;
I do like my privacy as other do also.

I only seen them taking pictures in the street. I think i was to late once i drove up on them and they got startled or they were done with what ever they where doing. Assuming they where from the assessors office.
Anyone can make the signs on a printer these day.

I just read that they are resurfacing cul-de-sacs.

Is yours listed here?

PRESS RELEASE Immediate Release Contact: Bradley Arnold 11/01/2019 County Administrator (352) 689-4400 Bradley.Arnold@sumtercountyfl.gov

Pavement Preservation project: Cul-de-sac closure and schedule
The Villages, FL – Sumter County contracted with Reliable Pavement Maintenance through CW Roberts to apply highperformance Polymer-Modified, fiber reinforced asphalt emulsion on designated Cul-De-Sacs. PolymerModified, fiber reinforced asphalt emulsion acts as a protective layer for the underlying asphalt pavement extending the life of the pavement. This notice is provided one week before the start of the project.  Expect the designated Cul-De-Sac to be closed for 13 hours (7 am-8 pm). Work is to begin, and the Cul-De-Sac will be closed at 7 am. Homeowners can reenter with their vehicles at 8 pm once work/cure time ends. During these 13-hours, there will be no access to the Cul-De-Sac, and traffic control specialists will be onsite to inform residents of the closure from 7 am to 8 pm. After hours, the Cul-De-Sacs will be blocked off using traffic control devices, and only homeowners will be allowed access. Under no circumstances should anyone drive or walk on the Cul-De-Sac during the 13-hours of closure; otherwise, damage to the Cul-De-Sac and personal property (i.e., Vehicles, Golf Carts, Pets, and Clothing) will occur.

 The Sumter County Ordinance prohibits vehicles from parking on the street, there are designated parking locations, as shown with this notice. A shuttle service will be provided from 7 am to 9 pm (Monday thru Friday) for residents affected by this closure to and from the parking location and the area of the residence only. Selection of the parking area will be the one most convenient to the affective residential area. To schedule a pick-up, call 863-812-1882 to connect to the shuttle driver, provide your name, address or parking location, and pick-up time. Please allow the driver up to 15 minutes to arrive for the pick-up. After pick-up, please provide the driver with the residence address or designated parking area.

 For emergencies (Fire, Medical, etc.), please call 911. Emergency vehicles will be allowed full access to roadways at ALL times.

 Make sure no vehicles, boats, trailers, etc, are parked on or near the roadway during the scheduled 13-hour closure time.

 Don’t place or allow to be placed, garbage, or debris in the roadway.

 Turn off all irrigation systems for this day, starting at midnight the night before. Asphalt Emulsion performs best when placed on a dry surface, and often irrigation systems wet the roadway. Feel free to resume normal irrigation after the cul-de-sac reopens.

Thanks for the heads up but why would the assessors office come out? it is not their responsibility

Bjeanj 11-08-2019 06:56 PM

I think if it had been me, I would have called the Sheriff’s office and told them a suspicious car was on my street, and I couldn’t tell who was in it because the windows appeared to be tinted more than 75%; could they please check it out. If nothing else, they might be cited for the tinting.

If I found someone in my backyard without notification, I would first ask who they are, unless they looked scary to me. If so, I’d call the Sheriff’s office and tell them a stranger was in my backyard.

If someone had a clip board, my first thought would be they might be a troll.

The homes on your cul-de-sac are lovely and beautifully landscaped. I tried to get a close up of the logo but I couldn't see it. Did it say any words on the logo?

tophcfa 11-08-2019 08:02 PM

All I can say is I am very glad that I did not catch someone like that lurking around our house, one of us would have ended up in jail.

If someone is on your property, or acting suspiciously on a neighbor’s, Anyone, without invitation or delivering, please take a video with your phone for future reference.

The tinted dark windows and the hardly detectable logo is my exact Point.
The windows are deliberately tinted dark and the logo is white with very small Font so they would not be detected easily.
Why would the Sumter County Appraiser act this way.. Just a FYI that is what the logo said "SUMTER COUNTY ASSESSOR".
If they had nothing to hide why would these cars be so camouflaged with dark tinted windows and very small logos'
Something tells me someone or a group of people are fighting there taxes and the assessor is gathering information for the fight.
The last tax increase Pi**ed off alot of people.

They have to verify some of the permits, I recently had some work done by T&D and the tax man stoped by to ck what was done but only had to look in the front door to see what he needed.
He was very polite and explained what he needed.
Sometimes the home owners can be pretty sneaky

Just curious does the tax man look at every house for a far assessment? I think not, some homes are 100's of thousands under assessed and over assessed.
Doesn't seem like a level playing field for everyone.
I still don't like there dark windows and covert attempts to get info.
They should send a letter out requesting a invitation.
