Sliding Garage Screen Door Cost?
 

Just wondering where people who have sliding garage screen doors purchased theirs and how much they paid. Also, does anyone have the bronze (brown) colored one and if you do, is there an issue with it fading over time?

We had one installed when our CYV was new in 2011. Here's a photo taken last month, still looks good. We had 3 neighbors have one installed from All Around Aluminum in Oxford, so we used them also, cost $850 eight years ago for a 12' door. Our neighbor got the roll-up type from a vendor at Market of Marion at the same time and paid $1650. I wanted the ability to go in and out without losing the screen. Think about it, if you go to wash the car, or work in the front yard, are you going to run that motor up and down everytime. With the sliders, you move one 3' section back and forth like a door.

We had sliders, but replaced them with a roll up screen. We found the draw backs to the sliders are: They do not seal as well as a roll up door. The roll up doors are a bit more secure. You can leave it down when you are gone and help keep the garage cool. A thief could still break in, but they are at least having to cut the screen. If the sliders are closed and you come home in the rain, someone is getting wet! One drawback, based on the type of power screen garage door, if the power goes out and the the door is down, your car/golf cart is trapped in the garage. It comes down to personal preference. Fortunately power failures don't normally last too long but we obtained a 12V DC power inverter for just such emergencies (Walmart, Harbor Freight, etc). You hook up the input end to a 12 volt battery (car/cart) and the roll-up screen motor cord can plug into the output of the inverter. Of course you wouldn't want to use that very often but it will give you the 110V AC to get the screen up. Then you can manually disconnect the steel garage door and open/close it as you wish. Of course if both your car and your 12volt cart (gas models) are outside, you'll likely have to take the battery out and carry it into the garage to hook up with the inverter but some one in the neighborhood should be able to help if you can't do that.
