W C Sliders in The Villages sometime?
1 Attachment(s)
OK folks, seems as if White Castle is establishing a location within 50 miles or so. One would think, with the vast numbers of TVrs who came from locals with WCs, the demand for sliders and such would be overwhelming here in TV...
------------------------------- Published: November 22, 2019 9:51 PM Orange County, Fla. - White Castle announced it will hold a news conference Monday morning to make a "special" announcement about its "presence in Florida" more than 50 years after the chain left the state. The Columbus, Ohio based company will make the announcement from Unicorp's Village at O-Town West development on Daryl Carter Parkway, near Disney World. White Castle, currently operates more than 375 restaurants in 13 states, and hasn't had a location in Florida in 50 years. White Castle's Crave Mobile will be at the event, serving the restaurant's popular meals. |
Those are good once in a while.

When I go to Minnesota, I go to WC once or twice. When I am here I go to Chic-fil-a, Now they are up north and WC will be. But for people living here full time it is good.
|
WC is private owned, anybody can open one if they pay for it. Just like Dairy Queen.

During our annual trek north during the holidays, we make sure to get our favorite pizza, visit our favorite Chinese restaurant, and go pick up White Castles once or twice. Way back when, the drive thru window lines were extremely long late nights on Friday and Saturday after a night of cocktails and dancing, etc. If the Orlando location is easily accessible, I could definitely see us driving down during the summer one time for a slider fix. Im sure they will be busy, and hopefully no unsuspecting tourists will die from the experience.

We usually stop by one when we are in Ohio for a bag of them gut bombs! You can get them in stores here in the freezer section. Hamburger, cheese burger, and breakfast ones.

No thank you! Boiled hamburgers not for me!

Not an expert on sliders, but isn't Krystal's pretty close to WC? I believe there's one in Leesburg

On the White Castle website they have this posted
"As of 2015, White Castle does not operate any of its locations using a franchise system and does not offer or sell franchises using its brand name. All of White Castle's 420 locations are owned by the company and is based primarily in the Midwest, Tennessee and Kentucky." Quote:

I don't taste much difference between the two. Unfortunately the Krystal in Leesburg went out of business. I ate there a few times. Location wasn't good, it was a Wendy's that had gone out of business and they remodeled it but couldn't make a go of it after about two years. Also they had what I would call lackadaisical group of employees and apparently a manger not much better, and I would guess an out-of-state owner. Same thing killed a Dairy Queen in the TV on 466. There is a Krystal on Rt 200 in Ocala just past Paddock Mall going east just after Kane's Furniture and they're usually quite busy. Also one in Gainesville when you exit Newbery Rd., go west away from the mall under I-75 and it will be on the right a short ways down. I've tried the White Castle in the freezer section many times, bought two boxes not long ago when on sale and I had to throw the second box away. They just don't come out the same in the microwave. |
finally putting one in Orlando. Let’s keep writing corporate to put one near the villages.

Back in the day, I thought their reputation wasn't so stellar as what folks here are saying, except maybe the one person who described them as "gut bombs". To each their own I guess.

Knowing full well that I should not ever, EVER, discuss food on this forum...…….
I remember as a small child, my cousins and I were taken to a White Castle occasionally as a treat and I remember the still yummy (to me) smell of fried onion and the restaurant not close to where we lived. It was on Main Street in Columbus, Ohio, right across the street from Capital University. I still love White Castles. They aren't boiled and they aren't made of exotic meat and they taste good to me because of the tiny rehydrated onions and the steamed buns and the thin slices of fried beef. I would love to have some White Castles now and then and I would also love to have Donato's Pizza and La Rosa's pizza too and would like to have some Goetta as well. Who knows I may love Ricotta too. It is wise to keep an open mind about food. I learned this from a mother who would smack me if I turned up my nose at something. white castle restuarant on main street in columbus, ohio - Bing images A purist never has cheese on a White Castle. ;) |
