HOME for the HOLIDAYS Foster Pet Program

YOUR Humane Society SPCA invites the community to see what real thankfulness is all about when they welcome a shelter dog or cat into their home during the holidays. The gratitude shown by a shelter pet to get a break from the shelter environment and experience family life for a few days can be quite rewarding.

It's an all-around WIN-WIN-WIN situation where the shelter animals get showered in love, the foster family can experience the joy a pet can bring into a home while the shelter staff get a bit of a reprieve and know their animals are experiencing what they dream of daily, being part of a family, even a temporary one. The feedback the staff receives can also help them better match the perfect permanent home of a fostered pet.

Interested foster families can submit their applications for review for a dog(s) or cat(s) during Thanksgiving and they will be able to pick up their animals on Tuesday, Nov. 26 until 4pm or Wednesday, Nov. 27 until 1pm. Fostered animals can return to the shelter on Friday, Nov. 29 before 4pm, Saturday, Nov. 30 before 3pm or Monday, Dec. 2 before 11am. Provisions for all the fostered animals will be provided by YOUR Humane Society SPCA. Look for fostering opportunities during the Christmas/New Year season as well.

For more information, contact Heather, Adoption Manager at 352-793-9117 or adoptionmanager@hsspca.org. Thank you for opening your home and heart to a shelter pet and Happy Thanksgiving!
