West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd 1917-2010
I've been reading and listening to a phenomenal history lesson right here on TOTV under a post that Yoda started about the distortion of history. If you've been a participant, either vocally by posting or by just silently reading and educating yourself, I'm curious if you will watch with me history lessons, or distortion of history, in the making with the death of Senator Robert Byrd.
Does anyone know the truth about the great Senator from West Virginia? I don't mean to be disparaging to the dead. Let's watch together as history books are written. |
So far I've heard no talking head on the major networks mention the Senators racist past as a Grand Kleagle of the KKK.

"NAACP Mourns the Passing of
U.S. Senator Robert Byrd WASHINGTON, DC – The NAACP is saddened by the passing of United States Senator Robert Byrd. Byrd, the longest serving member of congress was first elected to the U.S. House from in 1952 and was elected Senator in 1958. Byrd passed away this morning at the age of 92. “'Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation,' stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. 'Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.'" "...stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act..." Are you kidding? Does the NAACP realize that Byrd voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he filibustered it for nearly three months and recited a speech that went on for 14 hours and 13 minutes. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Talk about distorting the truth. I guess they want the Dems to look good come November. http://www.naacp.org/news/press/2010-06-29/index.htm http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/...ster_Ended.htm |
Remember when you told your kids "it's just a movie"
when they saw/heard something bizzare, scary, supernatural, spooky, etc?
Today we would say don't let it bother you it is just another media fuzz job or perhaps a politician moving his lips......same credence = zero!!! btk |
Did anyone see former President Bill Clinton and Obama white wash Sen. Byrd's past during Byrd's funeral.
"We know there are things he said and things he did that he came to regret," Obama said on the steps of the West Virginia capitol in Charleston, referring to a conversation he once had with Byrd. "He said, 'There are things I regretted in my youth. You may know that.' I said, 'None of us are absent some regrets, senator. That's why we enjoy and seek the grace of God.' "And as I reflect on the full sweep of his 92 years, it seems to me that his life bent toward justice. Like the Constitution he tucked in his pocket, like the nation itself, Robert Byrd possessed that quintessential American quality, and that is the capacity to change, a capacity to learn, a capacity to listen, a capacity to be made more perfect." Clinton described Byrd as an example of how no man is perfect, but how the late senator knew how to grow and become a good man, leaving his mark by endlessly holding up the Constitution as the cornerstone to protect and maintain the country. Talking about Byrd's alliance with the KKK and even Byrd being a Grand Kleagle with the KKK, Clinton said, "I'll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollers of West Virginia, he was trying to get elected. And maybe he did something he shouldn't have done, and he spent the rest of his life making it up. And that's what a good person does." Yyyeessss, that is what a good person from West Virginia does to get elected Bill. Join the KKK for votes. Did Bill have a snout of some good ole' mountain shine before the funeral. He looked and sounded drunk. During Bush's presidency, Vice President Cheney allegedly ate at a restaurant that had a painting of a Confederate flag – some Democrats went ape, implying that Cheney did so cavalierly to slight African Americans. The double standard of Democrats to keep from facing reality. Anything to keep power. |
Yes, they are the masters of rationalization.
