UF Health acquires Central Florida Health

BREAKING: UF Health acquires Central Florida Health, which operates hospitals in The Villages and Leesburg.
#TheVillages facility will be known as UF Health The Villages.
Details in Wednesday's Daily Sun edition.

This is good news for Villagers as UF Health is well respected and Shands is a highly rated hospital, hopefully the same quality brought here.

manaboutown, you are confusing Central Florida Health (hospitals in TV and Leesburg) with The Villages Health (primary and specialty doctor offices in TV).

The Villages Health does not take Medicare.

Yes I am. Thank you for enlightening me. I have been looking for a primary care physician who accepts Medicare and (fortunately) have yet to experience a stay in a hospital here!

Moffitt dropped United Healtcare because they could not meet Moffitt’s billing prerequisites. I almost switched to UH Advantage The Villages from Florida Blue a few years ago but discovered during the sign up period that Moffitt would not be in the UH plan. To much “gamesmanship” going on with UH and The Villages Healthcare for me. Florida Blue has been solid as a rock for me 9+ years.

Isn't Florida Blue going to be added in 2020?? So many people are confused to mixed information done at the pools as well as on social media. Best thing to do is go the the Medicare office or an independent insurance agent OR better yet, SHINE.

Yes. In 2020 The Villages Health will take 2 Advantage plans - Florida Blue and United Healthcare. Note The Villages Health has nothing to do with The Villages Regional Hospital... The Villages Health consists of Primary Care Physicians.

I hope we get dedicated doctors from Shands

Being a patient at UF since 2015, I can only say this is the best Christmas present I will ever get.

Since we do not receive the feel good paper in the morning, this news came as a big surprise to me. I did not hear a whisper of the possible change. Was this a surprise to others?
