Another Village miracle

Moved to TV a month ago and felt the magic immediately. Today I went to my new Eye doctor and after 28 years of wearing glasses I was told that my vision was better without my glasses. In fact, I was tolgd that I did not need to wear my glasses unless I wanted to get a drugstore pair of reading glasses for the small print.

Say, you don't live on 34th Street, do you?

Pats2010 07-01-2010 09:38 PM

Maybe the Koolaid has healing properties.

I think it's the water in the swimming pools. I've said it before. It is like in the movie Cocoon.

And you wonder why the intellectually perceptive individuals who are seriously researching TV as their future home have to take a step back and say ...........are you f*&^ing kidding me !!!!!

Yes, they may take a step back and wonder about the TV's image as "America's Friendliest Hometown" is just a myth.

My story is true and lighten up. If you want a more balanced view, my wife was diagnosed with cataracts. Is this better?

Which Pool?

C'Mon Vinny, let us in on the secret. Which pool is the rejuvenator? I've worn glasses since I was 5 and would at least like to get rid of the bi-focals. So far I only tried the water in the sales office and all that got me was a deed after parting with a chunk of change. Seriously, that's great news. Everybody says time moves backwards here in TV. The longer you're here, the younger you feel. I just have to remember to step out of 'the bubble' once in awhile so I don't end up in the diaper and pablum stage too soon. :p

Vinny,
It's got very little to do with what you said, you seem like a terrific human being, who i would love as a neighbor, and i do have a wonderful sense of humor. But the theme i continue to get from TV is a community that doesn't care that you have NO voice in the governing , taxation, and decision making of the place they call home.
This weekend we will celebrate a group of individuals who believed otherwise, and because of the ideals they held , you and i are able to live in the greatest country in the world.I realize this is a little heavy for a typical post on TOTV, but not to TV's who served in our military and the rest of us who are always asking WHY !

KB, lighten up -- there are times when it is just not appropriate to rail about what you (and I) don't like about TV. Yes, we do lose out in many of the important decisions of this community -- it is a choice we have made by staying here. However, as time goes on and the Morse family finally totally builds out, the residents will have more of a say. The reality is that many would prefer to have the decisions made for them and it has always been that way. It was that way pre, during and post the Revolutionary War; it's that way today. For those who care, there are some alternatives -- the big one being to run for office and let your viewpoint be known.

And Vinny, congrats on the vision news. I'm sorry to hear about your wife's cataracts. Hopefully, her surgery will go well. Just be sure she uses the drops faithfully. I had a friend who recently had the surgery and is absolutely thrilled. She's in your boat now -- cheaters for reading only.

I'm so glad you're happy here, especially with some of the hesitations you had prior to moving here. May it always be so.

Redwitch.

I believe that Kentucky Blue is in the decision making process about buying a home in The Villages.

Kentucky Blue.

People can and will attribute their good fortune, or bad fortune to any number of causes no matter where they live.

I have not gotten younger, I have not had improved vision. I do feel happier and I definitely am busier and I do enjoy the company of my age peers when I am in TV.

I have lived in a golf community where the golf course was sold to and run by a group of residents (us included) and it was NOT pretty. Everyone had his or her own agenda. I am very satisfied with how The Villages is run and I don't think that this "monarchy" will catch on for the rest of the country. It seems that the Morse family continues to grow and learn as they expand this place and grow richer. (The American Free Enterprise system) I DON'T look forward to the time when the residents take over, but maybe I will be in the Village of Heavenly by then.

I suggest that you come down here and rent for a while and see that we are a very diverse group here. There is even an intellectual or two around... and a few dumb cheerleaders.

Kindest wishes,
Gracie

Envy is expressed in many different ways.

Vinny, One of the things about eyes

is that they change from moment to moment. As we age, our eyes often actually start to relax, probably because life gets more relaxed. I know one lady who in her 70's "palmed" her self out of glasses. Many people use the Bates exercises to recover some or all of their acuity. I am, at 68, reading without my glasses now. I have a very strong (-6+) script but I don't use glasses at that strength. It also depends alot on how short or farsighted you were. Since your move to TV, you have probably enjoyed a more relaxed life and your vision is reflecting that. There is a lot of truth in the concept that your perception, which is from your mental processing, affects what you see showing up in your life. Congratulations! :pepper2:

lightworker888, I have read that the Bate's Method also involves sunlight therapy. Maybe moving to the Sunshine State helps promote healthier eyesight in some people.
