Buried Downspouts?
 

I have read many posts regarding the wisdom of installing gutters to protect landscaping, prevent dew stains, etc. There is no mention of burying downspouts to take the water from the gutters away from the house. Is this permissible and is it a good thing to do?

When we had our landscaping redone years ago, the downspouts were installed with tubing which was buried and emptied in the lawn in the yard. Every once in a while we have to make sure the drain cover opening is free of grass thatch so the water flows freely from the gutters to its exit point, in the yard.
