Can someone recommend an arthritis doctor and also a psychiatrist that treats depression in The Villages or nearby. Thank you.

depression

Hi, I would suggest that you speak with your regular family doctor as soon as possible about the depression. He can both prescribe an antidepressant medication and recommend a specialist for further treatment. But please give him a call, especially if you have any thoughts of hurting yourself.

I went to a new doctor that has been advertising saying he accepts new patients. I have several obvious medical conditions. The first thing I said to the doctor that I was suffering more and more from depression and that it's my hardest battle. He never said a word about it and talked only about what was visible.

That is really ashame Herb. Depression is a highly treatable condition. Please find another professional that will give you the attention you deserve. It can be something as simple as a chemical imbalance in the brain, stress or some sort of physical ailment. But it is really easy, peasy to get the proper treatment once you find the right health care professional. Give it another try.

Thank you BK. It has been suggested that he got the info he needed from the questions and my answers to questions not obviously concerning depression. Thaqnks for your input. Herb

There is no shame in being depressed. It is frequently a chemical imbalance that can be righted with medication. Gone are the days when we need to think that we can "snap out of it". Many older citizens have depression. It isn't a character flaw at all. I know of many of my friends who take Zoloft for depression and it works. Your doctor can find the right one for you.

Please see your family doctor. I wish I could give you a hug.

I'm not a very good patient to tell you the truth. I ask too many questions and sometimes I feel like I've offended the doctor or it seems like they are in a hurry and I don't get good answers.

The way my brain works, I need to have things spelled out 1, 2, 3 to me. We move around the country for my husband's job so I have to find a new doctor every couple of years. It can be a real struggle.

The last doctor I saw kept wanting to treat me for depression. I'm not good verbally and he didn't understand what I was telling him. It turned out to be something else and not depression. But he just didn't listen. Frustrating.

I hope you start feeling better Herb. You deserve to be happy.

Again thank yyou for your input and concern, Gracie I collected your hug from another friend, it felt great! I would not describe myself as unhappy though I clearly am. I would just say that things are not as expected:) I'm a firm believer that we are on this earth to help others and for now I can't see myself doing that although of course we never know how we affect those around us. Please don't worry about me I have too many blessings to count and nothing to complain about.
