Furniture Ballpark
 

Trying to get a ballpark on furniture pricing for 1600 sq ft home. $250K range. 3 bedroom, 2 bath. New homes come with Stove and Fridge. We are trying to get an idea of bedroom furniture, living room, etc. Nothing high end. Just general common people stuff.

$12,000 - $14,000

Agree, if you want "new" furniture that won't fall apart the first year you will be in the low teens.

What ever you do-stay away from City Furniture-we never bought anything from them--check out consumer complaints about this company

We came down with only essentials in our SUV. Sold it all up north before we came down here. Your master bedroom and living room will cost the most. One bedroom will be your den/computer room. The other will be for guests staying with you. We paid about $12,000 for everything. You can pick up lots of stuff at estate sales very cheap. A lamp here and end table there adds up to big savings.

We bought living room furniture at Kane's (a popular Florida chain) in Ocala. Within 3 years the furniture was worn out. The material was bonded leather, it's junk and we learned in the future buy real leather or poly or vinyl if you're on a budget. We went to Badcock in Wildwood and bought new living room furniture and it still looks new after 3 years. If you want real leather, then go to Babette's at Brownwood Square.

We bought from Badcock the Hamilton II series, it's vinyl but looks like leather, loveseat below was $700 and two recliners $400 each. It still looks like new. Tom of Villages AV was over helping with the TV, and said our living room looked fantastic. Of course a 75" TV doesn't hurt the looks. This also comes in off white.

Check out the user furniture stores. They are loaded with like new furniture from people going back north. May want new for living room. You can get good used stuff for guest bedrooms and patio. Also picked up some great stuff on TOV classified.

While at Babcock's you can buy a lawn mower, a grill, or a safe along with your furniture.

I'm also going to finally got to put furniture in my house after renting it for two year unfurnished. I figure all in will be between $20K and $25K including two tv's.

I agree with Babettes, but I would go to Leesburg. Much larger store and their sister store is right next door.



Not a Badcock fan.

We moved to TVs about 4 years ago. We'd gotten rid of most furniture prior to arriving. Brought a kitchen table, chairs, 2 Lazyboy rockers and our bedroom set. We wound up buying virtually all of the remaining items at estate sales, where you could get thing for roughly 50 cents on a dollar; often times for less. We are quite happy with our purchases. We initially signed up with the web site Estate Sales.net which delivers an email to you each morning with all the estates sales within 10 miles of TVs. It contains a multitude of pictures so you could pick and choose which sales you wished to attend. Sure we saw a lot of things we would never buy, but it became sort of a thing to do on non-golfing mornings. We got to see a number of well outfitted homes, so it gave us a large number of ideas on how to furnish our home. This may be an unconventional way to dress out a home, but we enjoyed the adventure.

We have bought some furniture from City Furniture and are quite happy with it. They were great to work with too.

Really depends on where you buy - if you want to go cheaper check out consignment shops like Bargains and treasures, Our mothers attic , furniture barn in Leesburg sells high end like Ethan Allen and most things are brand new still with tags because people rent and decide when they move down they don’t want that furniture and get rid of it.
If you want to go new, you will pay more. I suggest you go to Altamonte Springs or Ocala to furniture row. They have every furniture store you want and you can get a good idea of how much it could cost - you could pay $3,000 for a leather reclining sofa in one of the stores like Babette( usually takes 3 months to get) or $800 for a simple sofa in Kent with custom material( believe it or not my $800 sofa is more comfortable than my $3000 sofa . Then I picked up a 2 seater from Our mother’s attic for $100 new with the tags on it - extremely comfortable and rocks. You can order online from wayfair but most of these have to be put together ( I order things like tables , rugs etc. but they provide someone from Handy to put things together for a small price) Don’t hesitate to check out the cheaper stores like Big Lots . I have a table/chairs for my lanai from there and get compliments every time someone new sees it , paid only $500 for the table /6chairs that are extremely comfortable- they will provide someone to put it together for a small fee.
Check out the Christmas tree shop for small things like tables / lamps / etc . Gotten many things from there at a reasonable price . It’s in Altamonte Springs on furniture row .
As you can see there are a variety of stores you can go to at all price ranges so no one can really give you a price of what it cost - it will really depend on what you can tolerate. New or used, put together or ones you need to put together. I suggest you wait till you get here- buy a mattress at the many stores all over the area so you have something to sleep on and then shop till you drop the first few days and get the main pieces like a sofa, master bedroom set and kitchen/dining room table . You can do everything else at your own pace filling in with what you see later on. Don’t kill yourself with the extras or you won’t be happy with your choices. Carefully pick out the main pieces first otherwise you will be overwhelmed and fried
