Lots for sale in Orange Blossom Section?
 

Are there lots for sale in the Orange Blossom section where you can bring in your own manufactured home?

i am not aware of any lots for sale on the historic side; nor do i believe you can bring in your own home. i think i read here on the boards that one must purchase from the approved models offered by the developer - models appropriate to your neighborhood.

now, what you can do is buy an existing for sale home and have it taken away so that you can site build or bring in another manufactured unit.

if i am not correct on what i think to be so, it's a good thing that we have so many more knowledgeable folks here to help us out.

on TV site and for sale by owner. I did and the lowest price was an older house that was obviously a single wide mobile home with additions to both sides. It looked fine but it was still 63K. Too expensive to buy and remove to move in your own home. I would try some of the Local realators or TV sales office to see if there are lots listed.

One of the issues will be your new home may be the most expensive in the neighborhood. If your going to live there, who cares, but if you try to resell you may not get your investment back.

Another plus is that the historic side has some of the nicest mature landscaping.

I think that you are correct, Jersey Girl! I know of no lots available there. It has been built out for years.

Also, I DON'T THINK that the developers will allow you to bring in a home.

The Villages will allow you to bring in a new home on a lot. It is apparently done frequently to replace some of the single wide models from the 70's. According to Donna Fenster, an agent for The Villages sales office, you can bring one in as long as it fits the lot. I am sure there are specs as to what is meant by "fits the lot." It can be done, though. Or you can build site built on the lot. She said it costs about 16,000 to remove the old one and get permits to set up a new home on a lot.

Removing old manufactured homes and replacing with new or site built is done all the time in the historic area.

I don't know about lots for sale but I can tell you this. My husband and I purchased a home in the historic area in March, we stayed for a month, went home to Kentucky and turned around and came back to TV three weeks later. We stayed another month. We love it! We bought a home built in 1987. It is light, bright and big enough to do whatever we choose as far as remodeling and such. Buying a used home can be a winner if you get the right one for your liking. Good luck, see you there!!:wave:

We have a lovely home in Silver Lake that is exactly as you describe yours! Windows, windows, windows everywhere!! It is so very lovely and we cannot wait to be FROGS in 2013! We'll be back in our "forever home" for Thanksgiving this year!! Counting the days and already have airline reservations!!!:beer3:
