Airport shuttle competition

The Villages Airport Transportation - $19 Fares - Groome Transportation

Villageswimmer 01-18-2020 11:20 AM

Very reasonable price and an ambitious schedule. I hope things work out for them. Thanks for posting.

coffeebean 01-18-2020 11:29 AM

Wonder how many stops are involved before the shuttle actually travels to a destination. That could take hours, especially that they offer door to door service.

I was on a shuttle once from Miami that offered door to door service. I was the last stop to get home. Not a fun day.

Virginians 01-18-2020 11:53 AM

Based on our experience with Groome in the Denver airport to our daughters house in Fort Collins, The airport van drops off at their site in Fort Collins. 30 people get out into their smaller vans to take you to you home.

pacjag 01-18-2020 01:11 PM

Their schedule defines home pickups prior to departure from their site with a specific departure time from their site. Not sure why it seems to take them an hour and 45 minutes to then get to MCO.

Graspher 01-18-2020 03:32 PM

Let me sum up with one word......WOW!

bern916 01-19-2020 07:12 AM

Anyone know if that is the $19 is per person ... ?

pacjag 01-19-2020 08:51 AM

Of course it is per person.

For other questions please visit the link the OP posted. What we don’t know yet is where their Villages location will be.

This seems to be a great deal. Prior options were overly expensive.

mulligan 01-19-2020 09:02 AM

$40 door to door is expensive ??

pacjag 01-19-2020 09:10 AM

Well it certainly seems to be when this company is offering the same exact service for half the price.

Maybe leaving some leeway for traffic, weather. I'm quite sure if you were leaving to go to Orlando Airport by yourself and driving, you would probably leave an hour and 45 minutes before. Does this help to answer your question

What makes the difference if it's $19. for one or if it's $25. The Villages transportation is $40. a person. That's cheap if it's true!

jenniferthomas 01-19-2020 11:18 AM

Groome Transportation

I used Groome Transportation for years when traveling from the Atlanta Airport to Macon, Georgia to visit family. I found them to be reliable, and professional. The trip may take longer depending on stops though.

timcarnicom 01-19-2020 12:17 PM

According to their schedule it could take up to 4 1/2 hours to get home from the airport. Sheesh I'd rather take a faster option even if it's 2 to 3 times as much money. $19 is dirt cheap and I'm thinking you get what you pay for.

I agree. That is way too long to get home from the airport. I would use another service.

Villageswimmer 01-19-2020 01:04 PM

The location of the “Groome office” is critical and still TBD on their site.

I hope there will be a place to leave your car. The door-to-door option seems way too time consuming.

I just used Workman round trip and it was excellent. Drivers Jason and Wayne were safe and professional.

I don’t see how $19 will be sustainable. I’ve been wrong before, though.

Rocket6789 01-19-2020 04:57 PM

A little something I read years ago

There's not a product or service made by one man that Another man can't make or Offer At a cheaper price, And its the person who shops by price alone that is this man's victime. In other words look for quality and Longevity.

Rocket6789 01-19-2020 05:00 PM

Introductory fee or loss leader for yo shoppers

As the title says just An introductory fee

New Englander 01-19-2020 05:32 PM

I use Village Airport Van. They have always worked out excellent for me. I plan to stay with them for trips to MCO.

Tdsch5012@yahoo.com 01-19-2020 06:51 PM

Is this service to Sanford Airport also? The Villages shuttle cost $85 for 2 passengers and takes hours.

tophcfa 01-19-2020 08:00 PM

As a northern Villages resident I would gladlly pay more for a service that does not stop at every house. A long tour through the Villages is not what I am looking for on my way to/from the airport.

 I would not be surprised if that is the case. But the only place I've read it is in your reply. :ohdear:

This is an introductory rate will go up after established.

If it was free and takes 41/2 hours I would look for another option. Will have to see when they are actually here.

msilagy 01-20-2020 08:22 AM

My estimation is that the $19 is an "introductory offer" to gain passengers. This is a nationwide company so I would think they know what they're doing and the service will be good and rival The Villages Airport Van.

Rocket6789 01-20-2020 10:02 AM

This reminds me of a "I read many years ago. There's not a product Made that another man cannot make a little cheaper and sell for less and the person that shops by price alone is this man's victum.
This price that groom is offering as an introductory price, This service cannot be done on a consistent basis at this price.

rmd2 01-20-2020 10:09 AM

I like door to door but of course it takes longer than that is why I still use The Villages Shuttle (now called Workman) to the airport. I do like their early hours Groome has tho - good for an early flight.

There are private cars available. Why not try one of them

Saver Shuttle: $30 per person | *7:00 am departing from Lake Sumter Landing & *7:15 am from Brownwood.
Home Pick up & Drop off service available for only $15 per household. (home service is provided within The Villages® only)
I plan to try the new service. thank you

bern916 01-20-2020 10:57 AM

I did visit the link that was provided and did not find the answer to my question ... THUS the reason for my question. A simple yes would have been sufficient.

PNaughton 01-20-2020 12:42 PM

The best way to get to and from airport is to drive your own car and park at airport shuttle lot. It's not expensive and you drive directly to and from without any stops in between.

Not an option for 3 months at a time

PNaughton 01-20-2020 05:28 PM

Or a year or five years. BuT for those of us who go up for a visit graduation or short vacation I think a parking lot with shuttle is the way to go.

E Cascade 01-20-2020 06:17 PM

Are there any individuals who offer this on their own? I would always rather pay an individual and have my hard earned money go directly into someone's pocket rather than a company. I have to travel back and forth several times a year.

MEbner2805 01-20-2020 10:34 PM

It says 19.00 one way!!!! So nobody is going to be cheaper than 38.00 or 40.00 on a shuttle to airport!

Where is this lot and what is the cost?

Just Google MCO Parking. We like the one at the Renaissance Hotel, but have used a number of others. Thy're not expensive compared to the bus from TV for two people.

UHH47 01-24-2020 08:16 AM

I took The Village Shuttle for a late evening arrival at Orlando. It was convenient being dropped off at door, but had to wait at airport for 80 minutes for all the passengers to arrive to fill the van. Then had the privilege of being second to last off the van. 3.5 hours from time I picked up my luggage to front door.

New Englander 01-24-2020 10:00 AM

Are you talking about "Villages Airport Van"?
