Need cataract surgery
Any recommendations on Drs in or near The Villages for cataract surgery.

Dr. Ireland-@ St. Lukes--the best , most modern equipment--when the Admiral was on another health plan-she used Mid Fl eye for one procedure, when she went on medicare , she went to St Lukes a world of difference--world class vs a meat mkt
Dr Ireland-did both my eyes-I used laser surgery with proprietary lenses--been good for 5 years |

I went with Dr. Wehrly, Lake Eye. Beautiful Job on both eyes. I'm grateful. |

Depends on your insurance - Lake Eye has good opthamologists - both my wife and I used them for catatacts
|
Highly recommend St.. Luke’s. Worth the extra cost to get laser surgery

I am very impressed with Dr. Jodie Armstrong at Ocala Eye, office across from Laurel Manor Rec Center, off 466.
I cannot believe how perfectly I see. She has stellar background. Georgetown. And she is both smart and kind. |

Another vote for Dr Armstrong of Ocala Eye. She did a wonderful job and accepts Medicare. She is very busy, if that says anything.
Rollie |
And another vote for Dr Holman at Lake Eye. He has done close to 20,000 cataract surgeries. I also had the laser procedure vs a knife. Most cataract surgeons in this area have done far more of these than any other area of the country. Even a place like John's Hopkins, their most prolific surgeon may do a couple hundred a year. Here they do close to a 1000 a year. So your probably fine with any of the major eye places. I did do a lot of research and my findings were that the 3 surgeons at Lake eye had each done a lot of them. I think the one who had done the least had done over 12,000 cataract surgeries. So that is where I decided to go.

Dr Scott Wehrly with Lake Eye did both of mine, 5 years ago, with multi-focal lenses. Very satisfied and don't need glasses, at all, since the surgery.

Dr. Kimberly Ireland at St. Luke’s.
Dr. Ireland is maybe the most sought-after cataract surgeon in The Villages. She did both my eyes successfully and without incident. |

cataract surgery
I went to Ocala Eye and they were great. Originally I went to Lake Eye but gave up when the Dr. I saw told me he didn't do surgery and then they failed to follow up with me.

Lake Eye Associates Scott Wehrly, MD 1400 US Hwy 441 N The Villages Regional Medical Center Suite 521 The Villages, FL 32159 352-750-2020
My wife and I both had surgery for cataracts Plus near and far corrective lenses added. Great job and worth every penny. |
I was pleased with the results at Ocala Eye BUT...most follow ups were in their multiple offices in Ocala. Felt I was a long distance commuter and thank God for my GPS in locating those offices in Ocala. The surgery itself is also done in Ocala.
Would use a local eye center if I were you, unless you (rather your driver since you cannot drive after eye dilators applied)like driving |
Ocala Eye/Dr. Elmallah......THE BEST!!!!!
|
I've been told that St. Luke's is the best, I'm blind in one eye and have a cataract on the other eye, the only one who wants to do it is the VA. so I'm between a rock and a hard spot.

Use St. Luke's. |
Then you have to pay extra for surgery center - not so w/St. Lukes

Dr. Ireland at St. Luke’s, LSL. Absolutely first class.
|
I recently used Dr. Seaborn Hunt III of Ocala and The Villages for Cataracts, Astigmatism correction, and a glaucoma stint. My eyes are now 20/20. He and his staff are very professional and will take care of you. I know one other person that also used Dr. Hunt and he was also satisfied.

Dr. Elmallah, Ocala Eye in Laurel Manor
