Thinking of trying Linux Mint on my laptop.
Was wondering how to make a Mint disk to use.
Thanks for an info.

It's one of the best things I've ever done!

Download the Linux Mint 19.3 ISO from the Linux web page (LinuxMint.com).

Click DOWNLOAD
Click Cinnamon
Pick the 64 bit version (I doubt you have a 32 bit machine).

It will download an ISO file

Download ETCHER (Etcher - Download)

You will need a 16GB USB drive

Stick the USB drive in and click on ETCHER
Find the ISO file (linuxmint-19.3-cinnamon-64bit.ISO)
Point to the USB drive

This will create a bootable USB drive.

The next part is a little tricky depending on how old your PC is.

You will need to get into the BIOS for your computer (you will have to Google it)
Next you will what to make the USB as the first bootable device.
If your PC has "SecureBoot" you will have to turn it off
If your PC has UEFI, you may have to change it to Legacy

Stick the USB drive in and reboot your PC

It should boot into Linux Mint (this does NOT change your PC at this point)
You can test with it.

If you want to "go all the way", there is a disk icon on your desktop
This will erase your drive and install Linux Mint

You will need internet to finish the install, I used a cable from router to the PC for speed.

Besure to click on "Install 3rd party software"

The rest is pretty clear

Thanks Ed, I've been pushing Linux for over a year, here in The Villages, but I get very little support from the computer clubs here (except for the Connected Villagers club, that meets every Monday at Eisenhower 1PM). I go to the workshops at Eisenhower, when they have them. (I also push the Chromebook).

When someone want to go to Linux, I switch out their hard drive with one I have Linux Mint on. That way they can test it out and make sure they like it and that it works for them (so far no one has asked to go back to Windows). If they like it, after a while I take their old drive and put Linux on it for the next person.

That's a great way to get people in the Penguin Army! I'm also a Linux fan and I'm glad to see someone else promoting it.
Mint is a great Linux OS to get started with, Cinnamon looks really familiar to most Windows users so it sould be super easy to get comfortable with :)
