We need more advice!

Thank you for all of your advice you have given so far. We have contacted some of the people you recommended. Our offer has been accepted on a home on Clearwater, so now we have more people to line up. Who would you recommend for paving or decorative painting of the drive and walkway? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both. Everyone has been so helpful which is making our transition to TV much easier. Thanks! Teri and David Neff :-)

Did you buy the pretty Sanibel on Clearwater??? The one across from the pool?

Congratulations!

We aren't ready to move, but we liked that house!

It's the Chatham 2 doors down

We walked around it and pulled a few weeds, just can't help myself. I need to play with dirt, hope there are others that love to garden in the neighborhood so I can pick their brains about FL gardening.

Here is a good source for information on Florida gardening.

Welcome Springfield: There are certainly a lot of Villagers who enjoy gardening and who share info and plants at local gardening clubs. Here's a link to an earlier thread:

I think the question was about paving and decorating of the drive and walk.

I don't have any leads for you but just curious why people decorate the drive and walks? I can tell you from my POV when we were looking - we ignored any used home that had a painted drive. Obviously it wouldn't be our choice so why buy a home that we would have to have the drive re-done before we move in? But to each his/her own.

I was just helping out with post #3.

Oh, I know - I was just curious on the painted driveways I see in TV.

The driveways are stained, not painted. At least on the historic side. I would guess that is the technique for most concrete driveways in TV that have decorative designs.

Being from the NE, I had never heard of painting a driveway. For goodness sakes half of my homes had crushed stone driveways. After three years, our driveway and garage in TV had begun to get some stains, oil, dirt, acid (my fault), etc. and to us looked sloppy compared to our house, landscaping and lawn.

We began looking at various driveway solutions around TV. I did not have the budget for pavers even if I wanted them so we went for stain with COST-LESS driveways.

We think it looks great, clean and sharp. For us it was perfect, we really liked how it came out.

Not my intent to convince you, but that is why we did it.

Makes sense.

How much is it?

How about paver price?

ajbrown 07-12-2010 09:06 PM

Cost-Less charged us $1.10/square foot. Our Wisteria was around $1500 for garage, driveway, front walk, rear pad and lanai.
