Pipe with red cap
 

Was digging in my backyard came across this what looks like gas pipe with red cap just below the rocks under the matting. Not against the house but halfway between my backyard gate ( I live on corner lot) and retaining CYV wall along street well inside my yard.

Pipe looks like about 1/2” With WITNESS LB 7323 ON TOP OF THE RED CAP? Anybody got clue what this is?

Could be a survey maker.

You can call 811 for buried utilities, or possibly try villages customer service, they might be able to arrange to send someone out to identify.
