The square @ LSL

I see the square is all restricted parking. Nothing in the paper. Anybody know what's going on tonight?

EdFNJ 02-17-2020 04:53 PM

The now twice weekly Monday and Friday car club show. Also Wednesday for the tents. So three nights a week square is blocked.

Edit: It's the Porsche Club tonight. Lots of Porsche owner in TV.
During Feb/Mar/Apr they often have 2 nights of car club shows.

What does "restricted parking" mean? You can't park around the square? You can't park in the parking lots? Is there music?

They put parking cones around the spaces closest to the square. Go to SS on Tuesday, LSL on Wednesday and BW on Thursday and you'll see the set up. This keeps people from parking in those spots so when the vendors come to set their tents, they're nothing in their way. Also as mentioned, Camaro, Corvette, Mustang and Mini-Cooper come to mind, Villages clubs of those brands will put on display once a year at LSL.

Seriously? Every week?

When I owned my 50th Anniversary Edition Camaro I was part of the Camaro show March 2018. With Cactus Jack playing that night, they had a huge crowd. I eventually sold the Camaro, one issue was the CYV garage lacks the space. The cars will bring out the people. It was a great car!! They only made 5700 of the 50th Anniversary edition in 2017, which included all engines. They were all painted Nightfall Gray Metallic, and had special emblems everywhere from the headrests, to the steering wheel to the trunk mats. Beautiful gray and black leather interior, special 19" wheels, special orange markings. We had one member who had a version that I believe had about 650 horse engine, however on the outside they all looked the same except for the convertibles.

As long as there are car clubs there will be shows. When they run out of clubs they go back down to 1 car show a week and in the summer sometimes they miss a few weeks. Each year they repeat over again. Some are interesting when they have some real old models but often it's just 90-100 Mustangs or the "convertible club" with 100 convertibles or whatever that all look alike except for some colors. I guess it's fun for the snowbirds as it usually brings out big crowds for the bar kiosks. Last night they goofed and only had 2 bars opened as the music wasn't one of the "top tier" and they expected smaller crowds but the lines were half way down the street.

John_W That is a beautiful car. I’m sure it was lots of fun to drive as well!

I love all the car shows. Parking is not a problem.

OlifOlif 02-19-2020 01:24 PM

My friend Roger who lives near the north asked is there will be a car show for standard cars twenty years and older as he wants to display what he has! He is willing to accept the restricted parking!

Can't the car shows be held in a parking lot? Lots of space and easy parking.

Shows on the square draw crowds to the business's. They would not be happy if the show was out in the hinterlands......

croughwell 02-19-2020 04:16 PM

Another money making scheme by the extended family as the parking slots are not free. We're just feeding more of their children!

croughwell 02-19-2020 04:19 PM

Yes... Of course, but that would be far to far to walk and inconvenient for many Villagers.

VApeople 02-19-2020 06:19 PM

We have been here four years and have never parked in the squares.

All three squares have lots of parking nearby behind the buildings that are on the square. That is where we are happy to park.
