Business cards?
 

We will be closing on our house in Linden on 3/30. We’ve heard that in the past, Villagers had business type cards printed to hand out to neighbors and friends. Is this still a thing? And if so, what do you have printed on the business cards? Just name, address, phone and email? And where would the best place be to get them printed. Of course if this isn’t a thing anymore then it’s all moot. Your replies are appreciated. Thank you.

Some do and some don't. Makes it easier when you meet someone if you go far enough to exchange information. My wife used Vista Print. Good deal and you can design your own card.

I use Staples to print my cards. I only put my name, email and phone # on the card, but many put their addresses too.

Personaly, I would wait and find out what the neighbors are like first before giving out any personal information other than your name.

I made my own calling cards (that's what they were called in the stone age, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and men lived in caves). You can buy Avery business cards in packages of easy-tear sheets, already fine perforated. You open your word processor (MS Word, or LibreOffice, or whatever other program you use to type stuff with), use the built-in "wizard" to create your design and text based on the Avery product number (all common WP software comes with these templates), hit the print button and voila - you now have I think 15 sparkly new calling cards on a single sheet of card stock. Just bend at the perfs and they come apart nice and clean.

If you have a color printer you can get pretty fancy with this. I used some OLLLLLD business card paper that I bought in the 1990's, that had the design already on it. So I just had to type my text and set the font style and it was done.

Another vote for Vista Print
 

It's not so much for neighbors as for people you meet while doing activities such as golf, pickle ball, etc. I used Vista print and it was easy. Put our names, address, emails and phone numbers on a snazzy golf-themed background.

I used them in the boating world and now here. We call them social cards. Great concept and makes exchange of info real easy.

Wana safeguard your contact info - only pass to those u real like.

Don't let the naysayers discourage you. Having social cards is a great way of giving your contact info to people you meet. We still use ours occasionally and we've lived here 8 years. We got ours free online...found some company that gives 500 free in hopes you'll use them for your business...don't know if they still offer that or no.

I used VistaPrint the first time and the cards were free, but about a year later I noticed an unusual charge on my credit card. Turned out Vista Print considered me a customer and was charging me an annual fee. I nipped that in the bud and don't do business with them anymore. I make my own using the Avery business card stock I get at Staples. They are handy to have to share contact info with new friends and you don't have to search for paper and pen to write it all down each time.

Not just in the past, many Villagers still have cards printed. What they have printed and where is all over the map.

My guess.................the use of cards are in the minority.
They are cute and fun to get as a new Villager.

Definitely do not put your address on them.
Probably one box will last forever.



With texting, it's easy to exchange a phone number.

I'll start out by saying I am a trusting person that also is careful what I put out there. Neighbors, golf partners and persons attending clubs and groups are a vital part of our Village experience. I took a picture of our lighted name post and had Vista Print print them - inexpensive and lasts a LONG time (as long as you don't change phone numbers LOL!). BTW on the reverse side I added our Summer address. Trust your judgement, but it helps to be prepared so you have them when you want them.:)
