2020 Greyhound vs 1957 The Enemy Below

I am looking forward to seeing the new Tom Hanks movie “Greyhound”. One of my favorite movies about US destroyers vs. U-boats in WWII is the “The Enemy Below”. Will this new movie using all of the computer generated scenes be as true to life as the 1957 film? The comparison will be interesting.

Looking forward to that movie. Love almost everything Tom Hanks has done.

Das Boot (1981) is an excellent WWII movie from the German point of view.

Das Boot (1981) - Rotten Tomatoes

One of the best WWII movies I have ever seen. It helped that they seem to hate the Nazis as well.

Greyhound is based on the book The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester. i just read it... great book. Got it from the library just before all this happened.
Looking forward to the movie.

I watched Greyhound last night on Apple+ TV. In my opinion, The Enemy Below wins hands down as the better of the two. I wish Hanks had told the story of Commander Ernest Evans, USS Johnston based on The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors by James D. Hornfischer about the Battle off Samar in Oct of 1944. Now that was a battle of little tin cans against giants.

After watching some of the trailers for the movie Greyhound, the computer graphics for the water scenes look faking and more like a computer game than a Hollywood movie. Just curious of those that have seen the movie, are those scenes up to your expectations? I remember that most of the other WW 2 and Cold War movies made in the past looked so real. And I know that computer graphics can be made to look real too. Afterr watching Jurassic Park I kept wondering where did they get all those dinosaurs to film for the movie. :)

I watched Greyhound, on Apple TV, and I enjoyed it. I thought the graphics were good not great. But overall it was an interesting story that kept me entertained for a little over 90 minute. I try not to over analyze movies because you can always find something you think could have been done better and then it detracts from your enjoyment. So, yes, I noticed some things about this production, but quickly moved on to wondering where the next attack was coming from!
