Great point. If I want to drive in something that’s like a car, I will drive a car, not a golf cart car wannabe. I will take a gas powered Yamaha Quiet tech anyday.

JP 03-09-2020 09:23 AM

Yamaha's ridiculously overpriced

MorTech 03-09-2020 09:35 AM

The AMI is HALF the price of a TVGC Yamaha.

Duct Tape and Velcro.

Not allowed on the golf course and it would have to be registered for street use, unless it's speed can be limited to a max of about 20mph. The golf courses of The Villages will only allow certain approved tire types. But, it may be qualified to be registered for street use on roads that are not posted over 35mph. Maybe they do make a version for the golf course?

Ami leases for $22 / month (in Europe)

Right. And IMO getting street legal is not worth it. I did it with an Eagle and it was a waste of money. After some time on the road it was just too stressful due to the drivers who are not paying attention, those who are mad that you are on “their” road with your slow cart, and those too ignorant to realize you are street legal (despite the license plate and the Street Legal sign). So now I am driving only in cart lanes and multi modal paths at a 20mph limit. When I am feeling really reckless or in a hurry I take a round-a-bout to save going out of my way to tunnel, but that just reminds me why I was stupid for getting street legal. And BTW, even street legals or LSVs are not to go over 25mph. Half the non-street legal carts on the paths have already been modified to do at least that. So while obeying the speed limit on the paths my street legal is often passed by those that aren’t. Did I say I was stupid?

TheWarriors 03-10-2020 11:26 AM

No, not stupid, just honest.

OK, but why in the world of sanity would I pay half the price of something I want for something that I don't want? Effectively, I would be throwing away half the price of a Yamaha Quiet Tech, for something that would not fit in my already overcrowded garage.

MorTech 03-12-2020 10:28 AM

Um....it was a joke.

I suppose it can be software limited to 20 mph and used on the MMP. It can't be any wider than a GEM.

MorTech 03-15-2020 11:21 AM

Or this one from GM China. It is 59" wide...the GEM is 55". Less than $10K.
