Medicare/Supplement from United Healthcare/AARP Plan F
 

We are considering relocating to The Villages from Ohio. Do the doctors and
hospital accept regular Medicare and our supplement plan from United Healthcare/AARP Plan F?

If you are referring to the primary care providers who work for The Villages Health facilities, then, the answer is NO. You must have the United Health advantage Part C plan, or the Florida Blue plan. They won't accept regular Part B Medicare or other insurance plans. But, the specialists at The Villages centers do accept regular Medicare and so do many independent providers in and around The Villages.

There are probably thousands of residents here who have Original Medicare and a supplement, such as Plan F. The hospitals accept Medicare and supplement as do the dozens of physicians who are not part of The Villages Health System. It's just not an issue.

All of the doctors we have chosen to go to in The Villages take the supplement plans. I have not heard of any doctor who accepts Medicare who does not also take the supplement with the exception of the Villages Health system which is tied to the Advantage plan.

Medicare "supplement" plans, also called Medigap, are regulated by the Government and are designed to cover certain costs that are not covered by Medicare Part B. So, any health provider who accepts Medicare Part B must also accept the Government approved Medicare supplement plan. A Medicare Advantage plan, also called Part C, is a "replacement" for Part B, not a supplement plan.

Moved from Michigan over seven years ago. Have used the plans you mention very successfully all this time . NEVER a problem.

we actually have the villages plan & are very happy with it so far. all our medical needs are usually @ 1 facility, & we have the same if not better care than we had up north in the former insurance capitol Hart., Ct.

Part D supplemental plans
 

Anyone taking Humira or other expensive drugs have advice for Part D plans ?

The Villages Health system does not except plan F, but we have not found any Doctors outside the Villages health that do not.

Yes. The Villages Healthcare, works closely with United Health, which we have found to be excellent!

Yes! We have the same! Don’t change it. Plan F is no longer available for new users. As long as you have it you can keep it. There are plenty of doctors who take it. And all hospitals must accept Medicare.

We have Medicare and AARP plan F Sup. since 2013 and couldn't be happier.
We have a PCP who is not in The Villages Healthcare.
We have never spent a penny of our own money when either of us has had a hospital stay.
We never have a co-pay expense. The only time we have had to pay anything extra was for a Shingles shot or a special therapy at the Chiropractor.
The Villages Healthcare has had many doctors leave their system to be replaced by others, so you have to start all over with the new Dr.
AARP Plan F is accepted all over the US, you can go to any doctor, the Villages Healthcare is not.
We have peace of mind with our plan.
If you switch to the Advantage Plan, you will have a hard time going back to Plan F without passing the "preexisting condition" if you have any.
Advantage Plan is less expensive. "Pay now or pay later" "You're not getting any younger"

Thank you for the quick response. We read The University of Florida bought The Villages Hospital and thought maybe our health insurance would be accepted now.
