Finally Frogs

After two years as snowbirds, we've finally moved to TV for good. We sold our co-op at the Jersey Shore that we had been using to visit the kids and grandkids. We got a little more than what we paid for it and the unit was only on the market for a month. Boy, were we surprised.

We didn't move any furniture as we were already set up here in Hadley. We did have a fair amount of personal items and memorabilia to bring down so we wound up using a small container from ABF Freight, (www.upack.com). We had seen their trucks in TV before and they offered a unit 6' by 7' by 8' tall, which was a perfect fit for us. The container, which shipped from NJ to TV in under 3 days, was just over $1,500. PODS didn't offer their small container interstate. PODS cost would have been in excess of $2,500.

If this size container fits your moving needs, I highly recommend ABF. Pickup and delivery were on-time, their staff was courteous and their method of spotting the container worked great on the driveway at our CYV.

Wow... glad to hear that you were able to sell your place so fast and get moved safely!

I am so happy that you shared the ABF UPack information with us. I went to their web site and I now think that I'll be changing my moving plans from U-Haul to ABF UPack. Thanks to your positive experience with them I won't have to drive a U-Haul truck (55 mph :police:) and it will probably be a little cheaper than what I was going to do anyway.

How long (days?) does ABF give you to unload the moving container? I didn't see it on their web site.

We are not far behind.

In about one hour we are leaving to begin our new life in Florida. We will be staying in a Villa until we close on our home in Buttonwood on Friday 23. I have been saying goodbye to all my friends and family and am very sad right now. I may be the one with tears in my eyes for awhile. Can't wait tosee my new home which they say is gorgeous!!! Not lloking forward to the long drive though. Hope to see you soon. Sally :cryin2:

I believe that it was 3 days to load and another 3 days to unload. Call their 800 number to confirm, the operator I spoke with was very helpful.

We also used ABF when we relocated to The Villages. We had already checked out the usual suspects (Mayflower, PODS, U-Haul, etc.) when my nephew suggested ABF--he works for the company in Massachusetts. Anyway, ABF was easy to work with and by far, the least expensive. Highly recommended.
PS Our wonderful new neighbors helped us unload the truck but some men driving a delivery truck for THE LOCAL furniture store offered to come back after work to help. We declined but were told by our agent that these guys are available for lifting jobs after regular work hours.
